Large temporary internet files folder
I noticed that I have a few Gb of data in Temp Int Files folder
(winXPpro). I tried removing all the files but it just doesn't work.
They all dissapeared from the folder after deleting but when I check
the properties of the folder there is still a few Gb of something
which I can't see although in Folder Options I marked the 'show hidden
files' nad 'show system files' checkboxes. Also I tried ...

Microsoft Updates:
After setting up my sisters computer with DSL, and all the antivirus
programs etc. It occurred to me that perhaps she wasn't current with
Microsoft updates. So I went to the site but each time it came back
with the following message:
The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you

How to Obtain Windows XP setup boot disks
I am trying to download the file Windows XP setup boot disks and the
instructions say there will be a prompt to insert a floppy and there isn't
one. So, I went ahead and downloaded the file thinking that when it
completed downloading, it would ask for it then. It still did not ask where

XP home edition
Hi, my computer has an error message, windows root system32hal.dll is missing
or corrupt. how do I fix this problem. I did not try to upgrade when the
error started, my computer came with XP already installed. Any suggestion? I

My firewall alert me this "application layer gateway service wantes go
on-line" but because i've been infected with trojan "generic5.ao" i don't
now if is it the correct application or is it the clone who wants access
port4095 ip 192.168.2. Trojan was deleted . I denay the application but if is

Changing Default name of "New folder"
hi,
When ever we create a folder in xp its default name "New Folder" is
created . Can we change the name "New Folder" to "Folder".
if there already "New Folder" present then "New Folder(2)" created
can we put this numbering technique before the name starts.
ex:

Chkdsk problem
Hello,
While trying to make an image of an NTFS partition, the imaging
softwares (I tried with both "True Image" and "Ghost") reported that
errors on partition prevented the image to be completed.
For example, Acronis stated that it "Failed to read from the sector
234,439,534 of the hard disk 1", which seems high to me since there's
only 29,304,934 clusters on the disk.

Windows update
Hello
I have 78 updates to d/l from windows updates , do i d/l all of them at
once or do i have to d/l two or three at a time? I read the posts on this
site a lot and know that automactic updates is best but i dont want IE7 to
slip in.

Power Option Properties
Hello,
For some reason everytime I log back into my PC, the Power Options
Properties/Power Schemes - Turn off monitor changes to After 15 minutes.
Even though I keep changing it to Never. I am running XP Professional and

Constant Hourglass Activity?
Every few seconds, I get hourglass activity as some program is
checking or polling for something. I looked through MSConfig and
Services but can't determine what program is causing this activity.
Nothing in my Start-up group should have this type of activity.
Is there a way to determine which program is causing this activity.
Any help is really appreciated.

Locked Date base in Access

work as it shows tha the data base is locked and being used by another user.

Trying to open a folder opens the Search panel in Windows Explorer

Deleting large files
Hi,
When I try to delete a large file such as a video mpg file (it doesn't
appear to happen with small files), I appear to have successfully deleted
the files but, when I look at the containing folder in explorer - the file
appears to still be there!
If I then try to delete it again - it gives me an error message so it would

Taskbar Problem
When I try to hide the icons in the taskbar tray, I can't make changes. I
pull up the list of icons, click on the down arrow to the right of the
desired action and the drop down list of actions doesn't drop down. Any

Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 2.0 (KB928365)
I do not use the MS .NET framework which is why I assume that this most
recent update repeatedly refuses to install.Unfortunately I cannot get rid
of the Automatic Update icon from the taskbar with its accompanying ballon

How do I clean out the CD/DVD to write.
I have files to be written to CD/DVD (created by accident is my guess - to
much in a hurry and the computer lost touch with reallity. :) ) , but now I
can not delete them. They are core folders and there is not enough space for

keyboard and mouse don't work
I installed Windows XP Professional and after everything loaded I couldn't

Recovery with broken DVD drive
I have a Toshiba a a25-s207 running Windows XP. Toshiba included the
recovery disk on a DVD which includes a fresh windows install as well
as all the drivers required by the laptop. Unfortunately it seems as
if my DVD/CD drive laser is malfunctioning. While the drive still
