Open with... - How to get option back
I plugged in an old USB scanner and up came the "Open with....."
dialogue box.
Without thinking I chose Photoshop AND "Always perform this action....."
Then realised I might want to save to Word or Irfanview.
Can't seem to find a way to "Undo" the Photoshop option.
Tried right-clicking on the scanner icon in My Computer but am not
seeing any "Opens with..." setting to change.
How do I get...

Cannot install USB printer, "The specified port is unknown"
I cannot install a HP Deskjet D2300-series printer. The installation process
tells me "The specified port is unknown." I try to install manually (select
a port), and the only port options are TCP/IP port and Local Port. Where is
the USB port???

Problem sending pictures from Windows Explorer
I am using Win XP professional edition.
I used to send pictures, and resize them, from Windows Explorer
(selecting the pictures, File, Send To, Mail Recipient).
I always then got the options to resize them (make files smaller), or not.
Now, all of a sudden, this does not work anymore. Yes, I can still send
them, but only in the original size.
How come?

Help from the pros...
Hi,
My PC is getting really slow, showing a lot of errors, and stuff in
spite of being treated with registry mechanic several times. I've
erased the cache, cleaned viruses and spywares in safe mode, deleted
the unwanted files from the PC. What do you think I should do? I think

Administrator accessed files without permission thru Wifi connection
I have WindowsXp pro sp2/Antivir/Kerio/Wifi wireless internet connection/

I got a problem,
When i am starting up windows, and i have enterd my password for my account,
i get a error message.

I get this message evry thime, when i press okay, evrything works.

System Hangs Up
Running XP Professional at home. Not connected to a network.
When a particular user logs off, the system hangs: the cursor becomes an
hourglass against a pale blue background screen. This seems to happen
indiscriminately, but it happens often. To resolve, I must shut the PC down
and restart.
I have run anti-virus but it has not resolved the problem.

XP Pro only seeing 2gb of my 4gb ram?
I"m having a weird little problem with this current config.
AMD X2 5200+
ECS KN3 SLI2 nvidia590sli mobo
4gb (2x2gb dual channel kits) OCZ Platinum Rev.2 (ddr2 800)
xp pro.. sp2
Trying different combos I've found out following:
In XP pro(32bit) 2G of my ram is gone. Bios sees it, 3D Mark,Sandra, and
cpuz see it as installed properly, but Windows sees it as 2G.
Now it gets funky...

Xp desktop icons vanished
I have xp second home ed, and all of a sudden I have installed a blue tooth
dongle, and upon restart, as requested by pc, all my items have vanished off
the desktop.
If i go via c,docs and settings etc, they are all in there but aren't

Disk Defragmenter- Getting rid of...
I have changed my Disk Defragmenter utility to a much mor epowerful one and I
am wondering now if I should get rid of the one that comes with windows. It
is probably taking up otherwise usable space on my hard drive and I don't

A new problem
I really don't know what I'd Google for, so I'll just explain this one.
I'm working on a computer that was all bogged down + had a moderate amount
of spyware. I took a pile of stuff out of startup and now it's running
pretty snappy-like.
It's an older Dell, 1.8Ghz with 256Mb ram. XP Home, SP2 up to date.

Help with folder and file permissions!
Hi,
My WIndows XP machine recently blue screened on me. I was able to
copy my profiles for FIrefox and Outlook etc over to my D Drive. I
then formatted my C Drive and reloaded Windows XP. WHen it was
installed, I was unable to access my D, E or F drives. I was able to
set permissions for my profile, and Administrator so that I could

Debugging Login Explorer Hangs
When I login as any user (limited or admin) explorer occassionally
hangs and the login only proceeds if I kill explorer using the task
manager and the run explorer. I have removed as many startup programs
as possible and it still does it.
I don't expect anyone to diagnose my problem, but I was wondering if

Restoring From Backup Wizard
Help please!
I run XP Home with IE7. Have just restored XP including SP2 and IE7. I
have a backup of Desktop, Favorites, My Docs etc held on floppy discs and am

Why can't I update XP anymore?

hey i have zero sound coming from my speakers. i have updated the system
bios of my dell dimension 8400. from a00 all the way to ao9. and i have
updated my chip set to ao9. and still no sound. my logitech x-530 speakers
