I have XP SP2. It appears that every time I load a game or applications

Thanks to Bert Kinney - MVP
Bert -
Many thanks to particularly you, and the others, who responded to my XP Home
Ed. "Restore" crash post. I closed the post without responding with a "thank
you" by accident. I followed your advice, reinstalled SR, and everything
worked great. Again, thanks and Kudos!

False 'Activation' message in XP home
Hi,
I get a message on an old installation of XP Home that 'Windows needs to
be activated'. This follows a major crash, where the power-supply and
motherboard bundle had to be replaced because the machine wouldn't boot at
all. When I click 'OK', the machine things for a few seconds and then tells
me that Windows is already activated ... pressing 'OK' takes me back to the
log-in sc...

Sleep mode
I have watched my computer. After 10 min the screen will shut down,
but it powers right back up.
Suggestions on why the monitor will not power down? The same monitor
would power down on the same computer before I reinstalled XP fresh.
I am using network drives which I do not want to shut down. I just
want the monitor to go off.
Thanks

Icon Crashes WE
Aloha all. This is an odd one. I converted a videotape into an .avi file.
Now, when I simply place the cursor over the file icon (don't even click at
all) Windows Explorer crashes, and closes down momentarily (clears the
desktop), then comes right back. I can use the .avi file fine from within
programs WMP, etc., but cannot double-click the icon, or, again, even touch
it with the cursor....

XP Home SP2. I have two identical DVD writers (E: & F:). When I

Some time ago I installed Nero and can successfully write to CDs

However, I've now noticed that I can no longer copy files to CD
using Explorer/My Computer. As soon as I attempt to paste, I get

How to access the non-txt formatted LOG files:
I have in one of my partitions Windows XP + SP2.
I don't have accessing problems such as "sharing violation", etc.,
since I can access the WXP partition from another Windows partition.
But it seems that most .LOG files are not simple text formatted.
So are there tools to access all those files?
Thanks,
David
