Blank results list with fully indexed drive
When I type in the search box in the explorer task bar, I currently get a
completely blank Windows Desktop Result popup pane. If I use the full blown
Desktop Search window, it works as expected.
It was working great until a couple of days ago. I tried upgrading from
2.0.6[?] to 3.0.1 thinking that might fix the problem, but its still
happening. I miss my live as a I type search result...

Cursor Does Not Show Up in Dialog Boxes
For some reason, my cursor no longer shows up in dialog input text boxes but
when I type, the input is there. Just can't see cursor, blinking or
otherwise. Anybody know a fix?

Regedit: error while deleting key
I'm trying to delete the registry key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\LPTENUM]
as per the recommendation in the KB article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/298370/en-us.
However, when I try to delete it regedit returns: "error while
deleting key". How can a delete this key and try to solve the New
Hardware Found wizard from reappearing every time I boot?

Reinstalled XP on a New hard drive
My hard drive crashed and I was unable to boot. Since my documents were not
backed up I purchased a new hard drive, and reinstalled XP with the hopes of
being able to access my files from the orignal hard drive. The installation
went fine and I am now able to access certain folders on my old hard drive.
However, I cannot access files under my user profile in My Documents. I get

Vista To XP, Whats Wrong?
Bought a computer with Vista. Es no bueno (at least right now.) I had a
computer with a working XP hard drive. Ive succesfully taken that HD out of
the old computer and pluged it into the new one. Now the issue:
Computer starts, it recognizes the hard drive. I see the XP boot up screen

Regsvr 32 messeage error with internet explorer

No Sound - Device "Kernel Wave Audio Mixer" ?
I have no sound. In device manager, there is a yellow question mark next to
Microsoft Kernel Wave Audio Mixer. I can't update the driver. I would
reinstall, but can find anything on microsoft.com.

Windows Update not normal
After logging into Win XP as administrator, the Windows Update icon appeared
in the notification area of the task bar (bottom right of desktop screen).
As I have done numerous times before, I initiated the update process, and

Conflict of Java and ActiveX control?.. slow video
My computer has 2.6Ghz Celeron Processor, 512 RAM connecting with a wireless

Windows XP Recovery Console
I am trying to resote my fathers computer. He has XP Pro SP2.
It crashed and won't boot to hard drive.
When I run the XP disk and load the repair option it's all good untill I get

Show Desktop fails to work
I have installed Doug Knox's Show Desktop.scf to my Desktop and dragged it
to the quick start bar. When I click on the icon, nothing happens. The file

COMPLETE backup of harddrive contents
Hi,
I am trying to do the right hting by completely backing up my harddrive to a
removable hard drive. What I am aiming for is a complete and total back of
the files that I currently have on the computer so that if my laptop hard
drive finally took a crap on me, I could simply get a new hard drive for it,

unwanted automatic internet logon
Win XP, IE7
I get an unwanted automatic internet logon every time I start my PC.
Using TCPIP view, I have ascertained that it could be caused by something
called "System:4" The TCPIP view lists the process as follows:-

Items not remaining valid in Favorites list
I use XP Home, SP2, and run IE7. For some reason, when I go to a site that I
want to save in my Favorites list (www.google.com, or www.worldstart.com, for
example), I do the pulldown from Favorites in the toolbar, and select 'Save
To Favorites'. This seems to work, and I can return to my Favorites list in

Blue screen warning
I just got a message that XP was shutting down.
When everything started back up everything seemed fine.
About 15 min after the reboot I got a "system change detected" message
from F-Secure.
Everything still seems fine.
Does XP store the information it displayed on the blue screen?
How to I find it?

I am periodically getting a BSOD. I don't know when it happens because I am

Locking Desktop in Win XP Home Edition

upgrading from xp home to xp pro
we need to upgrade the 2 computers at our little office from xp home to xp
pro. We bought the xp pro Upgrade at the store.

Mapping network drives
If you right click on my computer, there is an option there to map a network
drive.
I have a website that I ftp data to all the time. Is there a way that I can
map a drive letter to this ftp site (eg ftp://domain.com) using my username
and password so that I can copy files to a drive letter to upload rather
then using ftp?

Shell32.dll exception
I put a new Maxtor hard drive in my system and used the manufacturer's
software to clone the operating system and files from the old drive to
the new one. For the most part it is working with the old drive
disabled, but when I try to call up "Safely Remove Hardware," I get an

Front audio not working properly
hi i have a ga-vm800pmc pentium 4 mother board and i was wondering why my
front audio doesnt work properly it seem conneted inside but the strappers on
pins 5 and 6 and 9 and 10 are still connected. The speakers work but the mic
