Unable to Uninstall .NET Framework vers. 2 and 3
My "Add/Remove Programs" function in the Control Panel does not remove .NET
Framework 2 and 3, for some reason. I made the mistake of installing these
versions (don't ask me why, please). I can't do a restore because I will lose
data that was added since the installation of the unwanted .NET Framework
versions. Maybe I need to do a manual uninstall, but don't know how to go

coa failure
After 7-8 months I got the message "that I'm a victim of software
counterfeiting" (the blue star) and that my xp professional is not real. How
can this be possible, I've done numerous downloads from Microsoft and it

Log on problem
Since morning the one XP node on SBS domain is behaving funny. When I try to
log on as X or Y profile or Administrator (local), one is able to log on and
the wallpaper appears. No other icon is seen. The cursor can be moved and on
pressing Alt+Ctr+Del the Window Security window opens by which the Task
Manager can be seen or the computer can be shut down. Kindly suggest a
remedy.

Menu autoplay
Since a fiew days the menu that appears when you insert a cd/dvd on the
player (these where there are the utilities to use the cd: play with a
software, open the cd directory, none action) disappeared. What's going on my
pc? Can i fix this problem?

no warning sounds
dear all,
i dont hear any warning sounds only sounds from my music cd's, i have
uninstalled the sound card and reinstalled it but still no luck, volume
control does not show up on the task bar also. i think it might be the audio
codecs, but dont know, please advice....

Noisy Computer

Problems on Shut Down
Hi all,
I'm running Windows Xp Professional on my company notebook.
When I'm shutting down the PC, there are severall programs, I don't know, if
not responding, but there are messages coming to the desktop, like:
..NET-BroadcastEventWindow did not close;
hpqimzone.exe did not close;
yahooWidgetEngine did not close;
Sometimes there´s an error with "dw20.exe"

Windows XP suddenly asking for user passwords?
This is the 3rd time this has happened in the last year. Suddenly at the
Welcome Screen all the user accounts are being prompted for passwords. There
are no passwords set. I have in the past reset the screensaver and power
options to no password, and run the control userpasswords2 to change the
password option in the Admin control panel.

Admin Pack
Where do I find what used to be called the "Admin Pack" in Windows 2000 for
XP? I'm referring to utilities that allow you to manage an Active Directory
domain, DNS, etc., from a XP Professional system. In Windows 2000
Professional, those utilities were located in an installation called

Allow users to user their own usb key
Hi we are running windows xp sp2 with windows 2003 sp1
I want to allow certain users to use their own usb key even if they are
non-admin
I tried the GPO "Load and unload device drivers" and ive put the group
"Domain Users" on it. I tested that on a pc but it ask me the username and
password of an admin users

Standby & Monitor
When ever I leave my computer for a while it seems like it has gone into
standby, but when I move the mouse to wake it up it has actually shut down
and as soon as the screen wakes up windows xp starts up again as if it has
been restarted. This has only started since i wiped my comp and reloaded xp
from scratch. I have got xp back up to date with all the updates. Anyone

Share custom paper sizes over network?
We have a client in the field of civil engineering and they have demands for
custom paper sizes for when they print/plot their documents. When we create
custom paper sizes on a PC, they are only available on that PC. Is it
possible to create custom paper sizes and have them available to all users on

No dial tone using Network (Dial-up) Connection
There is no dial tone (or dialing) when I attempt to go online with a
Network (Dial-Up) Connection. (A 633 error message appears.) I have been
through the Modem Troubleshooter, but everything seems to be in order.

changing temp file location
is there any way of changing the location of the temp file in C:\documents
and settings\(me)\local settings? Am trying to burn a dvd through Nero and
receive the message "not enough space for temporary files in the specified
folder.(gives location of folder) .there are 468 MB abailable but the

Can VPN but not access any machines

I'm having a problem where I can connect to a client's VPN 100% of the
time, but can only RDP into or ping their local machines maybe 30% of
