I have installed Windows XP SP 2
For no apparent reason the explorer stop working.

Concurrent disk accesses slow in Windows XP
Hi,
I have noticed very slow I/O performance in Windows XP while
performing certain tasks, and I have been able to write a small test
which reliably demonstrates the problem. I'd like to explain this
problem and ask if anyone knows a workaround or set of tweaks to

Hello,
in my installation process of my programm,
sometimes I need a new user.
A user which is member of 'Power User'.
In the script,
I create the user
> net user Tester Password /add
and add the user to 'Power User'
>net localgroup "Power User" Tester /add
This is OK.
But I need this on a lot of different Windows Languages,

I have enabled Active X Controls
Why am I beig told to enable Actice X Contros when they are enabled?
I went to IE > Tools> Internet Options > Security tab > Custom Level >
Active X controls and plug-ins. And Enable All previously unused Actice X
controls to run without prompt.

How to make a drive active
Hi,
I am on Windows XP but the original drive was full (40G) so move everything
into a new drive which is 250G. However, cannot find anywhere which I would
activate the partition as a boot partition. I have done the image restore on
a partition of 200G then scrapped it and set it to 40G but still cannot find
anywher which I would activate the partition.

Using Windows-XP-SP2 Netscape 7.2
I just noticed on my task bar (near the clock time) there is a box that
looks like 2 monitor screens with a RED X on it, when I put my mouse on
it, says "Local Area Connection A Network Cable is Unplugged, but when I

Applications shut down straight after start
In the last few days my PC has started to display a strange habit. When I
start certain programs (notepad or even task manager), they open and on the
first move of the mouse close down immediately without me being able to use
them.
Has anyone seen this before?
I use Panda 2007 antivirus with the latest updates and that says my PC is
fine....

Recycle Bin
I did some cleanup and defragmenting of my hard drive, and now, deleted items
don't go to the recycle bin -- they just go away, and the recycle bin remains
empty. How can I restore it so that deleted files go to recycle?

Wireless networking dropping out
I am running Windows XP at home with a wireless network. Sometimes it
drops out for a minute or so and sometimes only for a second. I
haven't been able to find out why so far, but am investigating.
In the meantime, is there a way to lenghten the amount of time

Freeware ramdisk 1 GB for XP
Hi,
I'm looking for a freeware ramdisk driver/program for XP which allowes
to create big ramdisks (1 GB or bigger).
A long time ago I was using xmsdsk.exe, but as I read it doesn't work in XP.
My "biggest success" is a 329 MB ramdisk - "AR Soft RAM Disk 1.20":

Explorer/runas/remote session problem
I regularly RDP via VPN from my home XP Pro to my office XP Pro.
I use VB6 on my office PC and sometimes need to use it with my
administrative account so I use RunAs via the right-click method.
When I do RunAs of VB6, my explorer locks up with some broken graphics on

Help needed - XP Pro Freezing Up
I thought this issue was related to just IE but today I realize, the issue
affects my XP system in general, not just XP. I thought it was only IE
because I surf mostly on the pc.

Windows Backup Utility: Lost Power During Restore Job
So the power cord connected to my Seagate USB disk drive fell out in the
middle of a restore job. I looked in the directory where the .bkf file was
*supposed* to be and it was no longer there.
Does anyone have ANY idea where the file could be? I did a search for the
exact file name but it's not on my local system OR the backup drive.
Side note: I was restoring the files from my backup...

Getting rid of user accounts
Can I make it so no one has to sign in as a user on Windows XP? I would like
the computer to just start up without having to put in a password or
designate a user. If I do delete a user account, will I lose all the files

No taskbar button when programme is minimised
Please help. Whenever I minimise a programme the button does not appear on
the taskbar. It appears to be minimising but then disappears. When I open
the task manager the programme is still running so I have to open the task
manager instead of clicking on the button on the task bar to reopen the
window. This has only happened recently. Does anyone know what the problem
is?

How can I get the handle for the Taskbar
I have rather two questions. First, where do I query technical stuff like
this(Q on Subject) about WIndows? And second the question itself. I need to
get handle for the taskbar but I don't know its window name so as to use
