Word problem
I had this problem with one of my computers now it’s on the other. Looking
for some help. When I try to start up word or send a message in outlook I get
a box that looks like something is being uploaded and a message that says
“Word is currently recovering your documents†then another message says “Word
failed to start correctly last time….†Then “Do you want to start in safe...

File Sync
I had set my system to synchronize some of my folders on another server a
couple of years ago but can't remember how I did it.
Does XP do this or would I have had to get a 3rd party program to get this?

Files and Settings transfer wizard
Hello All,
On a regular basis, I use the File & Settings transfer wizard to back up my
settings to a "slave back up drive" in my desktop computer.
Well, my primary drive crashed last week, and now I've replaced it with a

Windows Explorer Question
Hi, I am sure there is a simple answer to this question. Every time I open
Windows Explorer with the WINDOWS+E keys, it always open in the "My
Computer" folder. How can I have it open in my C:\ directory?

Log In Window
Everytime I re-boot I get a pop up window asking me to log in. I just hit
enter and the re-boot continues. This is annoying. I know others with XP
Professional who do not have this "problem". Is there a protocol I need to
delete? Perhaps NetWare?

startup problems
I have a PC running Win XP Pro, ~ 700M memory and have had for 2-3 years.
Recently (1-2 mo) I get the initial Windows splash screen on startup then a
blank screen (not blue) for a full 8-10 minutes then it finally seems to
come up normally. I also occasionally (1-2 x / mo) get a BSOD related to
some unknown device driver. There has not been any hardware added recently.

Last time PC used?
Is there a log or something that gives me the actual times that my PC has
been booted up, I am suspecting someone using it but maybe only for using

BSOD solved after 6 months - ram fault
I was getting BSOD up to three times a day for the last 6 months.
Tried micosofts memory check program, drwatson, dump files, looked for
faulty drivers every day, etc.
Finally gave up and bought a cheap pc that worked fine....until I decided to
increase its ram by using the ram from the old machine....then got regular
BSOD again. Chucked out the ram and everything was fine again.

No Bluetooth Icon in Control Panel
There is no Bluetooth Icon in the Control Panel for me to add my device.
I am running XP Pro Version 2002 Service Pack 2. I am trying to synchronize
with my Motorola KRZR K1 cell phone. I am on a wireless network at my home
business.

How do I find handle of the taskbar
I have rather two questions. First, where do I query technical stuff like
this(Q on Subject) about WIndows? And second the question itself. I need to
get handle for the taskbar but I don't know its window name so as to use
'FindWindow'. Anyother way? The code may be specific to WinXP and may be
coded in VB or C++....

point32.exe, a magnifier, intermittently pops up
>From time to time, I suddenly have a magnifier pop up. I've found it
intrusive, at best. Finally, I discovered that point32.exe is the
culprit and I was able to kill it in Task Manager.
Does anyone know an easy way to prevent it from being launched in the
first place? (it must be some keystrokes or mouse clicks that
inadvertently brings it up.)

Spyware Creating tmp files, ie Win1.tmp Win2.tmp
Running WindowsXP-Pro SP2 and all updates.
My son's computer has something running that I can't figure it out. In the
tmp directory, the files Winx.tmp gets created where "x" can be any digit.
It starts as "1" and increments forever. I've had over 2000 files that I
deleted.

Indexing Service for Power Users in WinXP ?
Is it possible to allow Power Users to use the Indexing Service in
Windows XP?
Power Users can enable the service, but when you launch the Indexing
Service via ciadv.msc as a Power User, you can't do much of anything
(add catalog, add directories, etc) by default. Any ideas?

Auto backup during shutdown
We have multiple staff machines some in an NT Network and moving towards a
2003 Server network. We know how to use log on scripts to map drives.
We could use them to do a back up of their My Docs but are concerned about
the time it would take.

Xp Home: access is denied
I accidently dragged a folder into one of those Microsoft updater
folders where the contents can't be accessed. The message is Access
is denied. I used a restore point to get the folder back to the
correct location, but I can't access anything in either folder. I
tried booting into safe mode and changing user access to the files to
"full" for all users, and now I can delete files, but still ...

Help, 'stand bye' is disabled?
So I just got through restoring Windows Xp on my computer. After my
old hd died. But there is only one problem. The stand bye option is
grayed out. I can only restart or shutdown the computer. Anyone know

URL not found
When I go on to certain programs eg. i-Tunes, Quick Time, I cannot gain
access to certain parts of the program as I get an error message stating

Can not apple windows updates since I did a repair installation

Automatic Shutdown and error message
I have been receiving a fatal error message when I try to send email (Outlook
in Office Pro 2003).
The message reads “DCOM server process launcher terminated unexpectedly". I
then receive a box to send the notification to MS and then two more boxes
with something about NT Authority/System.

Don't blame Microsoft all the time
I was trying to post a question and nothig was happening until I noticed a
line on the bottom of the screen saying I should hold down "Ctrl" if I wanted
to let a popup occur. I did and then it worked. Before that I was saying
really bad things about Microsoft. But I was the real reason it did nto
work. A comment.
