Outlook Express 6
My computer connects perfectly to Outlook the first time I start the
computer, but after logging out and logging back in again the computer gives
me an error saying it can not connect to server. If another profile tries to
get email, Outlook gives them the same error message. I can connect ONCE and
from there on in I can not. My only option is to restart the computer EVERY
time I want to...

Moving hard drive to another motherboard
My motherboard died and I am trying to move my hard drive to another
computer. When I boot the system, it comes up in safe mode. The drivers
start loading and the last driver to display on the screen is the MUP.SYS
file, then the system hangs. Can anyone help me get around this problem?...

InstallShield update agent
Sometimes when I start up XP I got the pop up box with the box title:
"InstallShield Updat Service Agent"
Saying:
InstallShield Update Service Agent has encountered a problem and needs to
close. We are sorry to the inconvenience.
It happens sometimes but not always.
How do I know which program is going to get itself update?

My PC locked up at pre-boot
Hi
I have posted this problem about one week ago.
The problem was fixed by no reason for a while, and now it comes back again.
Problem description
My PC is locked up at pre-POST stage.
The keyboard light is flashed once. I have replaced the battery.

Error message on boot about OPXPApp.exe
Just started to get a message on boot up that OPXPApp.exe could not run and
wants to send an error report to Microsoft. Once the computer is fully
loaded, it takes 3 or more minutes to sign on to the Internet even though I
have high speed cable. Anyone know what this is all about?

OK, boot to WinXP Pro SP2 Install CD and use [R] for to load the Recovery
Console.
Run CHKDSK /R
During the run CHKDSK displays...

DVD burning conflict
Hi,
I used my DAV drive to backup my system. Recently I installed a movie
creation program which includes the gear security utility. Immediately
thereafter, I was no longer able to use my backup program, nor any other as
Drive E is now "inaccessible". I have tried uninstalling the program AND
gear security however even after uninstalling and reinstalling my DVD drive,

XP hangs when clear recently used files from the start menu
Whenever I clear the recently used files from the start menu by hitting the
clear button, the system hangs for a couple minutes before it executed the
clear request. Aside from being annoying, it holds me up from doing other

Logon script
I am using Windows 2003 server. I have created logon script in Group Policy
and applied to OU. During boot up it will auto-map drives. It works fine all
along.
Recently, randomly, some users complained that they did not have the mapped
drives in their "My Computer". When reboot the workstation, the mapped
drives appeared.
Anyone can advise what is the problem?

Occasionally I want to review some of the items in the recycle bin. When I
(double) click on an item, I get a properties message box. I don't want the
properties. I want the actual program to execute. (± 95% of the time I want
to look at a text file.)
How can I execute the actual file without having to restore it?

Microsoft.Net Framework
I recently downloaded the latest XP security updates from Microsoft. The
Microsoft.Net Framework Ver 2.0 (KB928365) security update keeps installing
itself evertime I start my computer. I install it but it keeps coming back.
This is beyond annoying!
How can I get rid of it?

Removing deleted files from a Windows Briefcase
Hello all,
I like to use the Windows Briefcase to keep my traveling files up to date.
The problem is that I absentmindedly added files to a briefcase from a
CD-ROM, edited these files, and removed the CD (not that it could write to
the CD anyways). I think I deleted the CD-ROM files from the breifcase
after realizing my mistake (I'll have to verify this).

STOP 7E on bootup/startup of Windows XP Home
Hello,
I have a Windows XP Home box that had a STOP 7E message on the screen
when I came into work this morning. No new programs or hardware have
been added recently.
I ran a MEMCHECK test and let it run several passes: no errors
reported.
This machine is running WinXP SP2.

File Copy Utility
Does anyone know of a utility that will copy a specified number of
files from a source folder to a target folder. I have an application
that can only handle processing 500 files at a time. I have 220,000
files that need processing. I would like to schedule the next 500 to

When i open a website to download the animated emoticons, the images should

Setting up PC
I was given a computer with a pirated XP Pro on it and found out only after

ApUsbPnp hanging at shutdown
OK, I did a clean install of Windows XP on my Fujitsu N6010. I installed
all the device drivers from Fujitsu and have done every Windows Update.
None of the devices appear to have complaints.

Need to select myself on startup since installation of .NET
Since I installed .NET, I am now required to click on my name as part of the
booting process. My name is the only one there and I'm the only user on my
system. How can I circumvent this requirement? I'm running XP Pro.
