I backed up my My Documents folder to my external hard drive in a cut and paste operation in Windows Explorer that I have performed successfully in the past. I selected a so-called destructive recovery and, as...

dvd-rom not spinning up
I recently upgraded my PC's drives, adding a DVD-RW while keeping the original DVD-ROM as a secondary drive. Here's the problem: while the drive shows up in My Computer, and is "functioning normally" in Device Manager, it won't read anything. I insert a disc (DVD/CD, doesn't matter), it'll spin up for a few seconds, then spin down, and that's it. As far as my PC is concerned, there's no ...

What is happening here? Is it ...
