How much room should I really allocate for restore points? System Restore
wants 10% of my 100GB drive and that seems like way too much.

dvd-rom not spinning up
I recently upgraded my PC's drives, adding a DVD-RW while keeping the
original DVD-ROM as a secondary drive. Here's the problem: while the drive
shows up in My Computer, and is "functioning normally" in Device Manager, it
won't read anything. I insert a disc (DVD/CD, doesn't matter), it'll spin up
for a few seconds, then spin down, and that's it. As far as my PC is

DVD Problems
I have received 4 DVD's (chess games). Two of these dvd's will work as soon
as I close the dvd drive,the other two will not. I enter them into the drive
and the green light always stays there. Once these dvds are in the drive I
can not open any other program on the computer, it just jams. The only
message I get is ' program not responding'. Are these faulty dvd's?

Files - Cannot Save
Hello,
I have Windows XP home edition, for some reason I am not able to save
any files (whether they are new or editted). It will not allow me to
Change the: Save In , File name, or Save as type - boxes, these are
grayed out.
When I go into Safe Mode I am ABLE to Save files. Any help with this
would be greatly appreciated.

Fully updated XP home POST problem
Hi,
For a while now my brother in laws PC has been POSTing over and over for
about five minutes and then finally boots with very thing running fine.
As I was down at his today I decided to check a couple of things.
First I checked the Motherboard CMOS battery. It's fine reading 3.16v
I also checked other voltages and they are as follows..
Purple - 5.04
Green - 0.04 starts on checking...

Access denied - Sole owner
Reformat and Installed SP2. Runs good. Had backed up Favorites and imported
them. But I can not open the Folder - Access denied. I am the only person
owning and using this PC.

Problem accessing secure sites
Hi
sbs 2003 premium with isa 2004. Internet Explore 6 . When trying to access a
secure banking site on one win xp client pc I get below errors. However
accessing the same site from another pc works fine. What could be reason for

Windows Explorer window always flickering
I noticed on my Windows Explorer window on my XP that the left pane (that
displayes the folder tree) is constantly refreshing.
Why is that and is it slowing down my system?
We have some machines where it only seems to happen on the networked
(shared) folders so the only the folders below the mapped drives will
flicker and not the local drives folders.

Windows System Restore Points

My PC is not retaining the system restore points, either those created
automativally or manually. It seems restore points are only retained until I
reboot, and then there gone.
The PC drive has 3 partitions, with the following system restore settings

Problem Reinstalling Windows XP
I had to replace the hard drive in a Toshiba Satellite A105 notebook and
can't get Windows XP to install. I tried using both the Microsoft Windows XP
disk as well as the recovery disk from Toshiba but they don't get any further
than loading the initial files for set up.
Does anyone have any suggetstions?

Remote Assistance - Helper can only view screen.
I am using XP Pro.
Sent Remote Assistance request via email.
Helper obtained access OK but can only view screen.
I can see no menu options that give them control.
Helper is using Win2000. Is this the problem i.e. we are trying to do
something which is not possible - or is there some setting I have missed?
