Any good shade programs for Windows XP?
I used to use BlueCarpet's WinShade v3.01 (the company is gone I think)
in Windows 9x, 2000, and XP, but it doesn't work so well on my new
Athlon 64 dual core system since some programs don't seem to lose focus
(can't click on anymore since it thinks I am clicking on my desktop).
I also tried other programs like FreeShade, but it hasn't been updated
since 9/26/2001 and some programs don...

how to customize "my music" "my pictures" file folder graphic?
I notice that users may "customize" the face of file folders to whatever
..jpg that is chosen, particularly if a user were to include their selected
..jpg graphic and entitled it "folder.jpg" then include w/i the file to be
customized. But how to do this in "my music" and "my pictures" ? And, more
importantly, how to change either "my music" or "my pictures" when XP Home

BIOS Looses HD Information
What causes the HD info to get lost in the BIOS. I know this use to happen
when the battery is dead but I would think that it would loose the clock and
everything. I boot up and it keeps searching for a HD but can't find one.
Finally I go into the setup and see that the there was NO information on the
HD in the BIOS.
Thanks in advance.

Tweak UI Issue
In Tweak UI, under General Tab / Focus....... I have UNchecked " Prevent
applications from stealing focus." But every few days I have to go and
re-UNcheck that option. (The problem is that when checked websites open on
the tray instead of opening into a full window).
Any way to keep that option UNchecked?
Thanks

Change default start > run > browse... directory?
Hey guys, I had a quick <probably registry related> question I was
hoping someone could help me with. When I do a win+r or a start > run
> browse my user directory comes up by default. I would like this to
be either my c: root, or my program files directory. How can i change
this location? Also - does the reg key accept %TOKENS% such as %sysdir
%, %windir% and its ilk.
TIA!

Application Data folder
Hi,
I want to know if we can move the whole Application Data folder from the
Documents & Settings\%User Profile% to some network drive. The reason I want
to do this is to make my users' profiles light enough so that roaming
profiles among workstations is easy. Everyone of these users has a home
drive mapped to their profile and that's where I want to move the
Application Data folder!!!

Run program in WinXP home during boot
Hello,
I have a custom written program which displays a license agreement. I
would like to run this program during the WinXP boot process as early
as possible. It is not currently a service, but I could make it one if
need be. I have tried to put the exe in the
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run section, but the
program doesn't run until the user has logged in and WinXP is ...

Skype & Fax crash the machine
My machine crashes everytime I try to send a fax (using the built in Windows
Fax software) and also sometimes when I plug in the headphones and try to
use Skype. On sending the Error Report to Microsoft I was given an
explanation of why the machine crashed - some problem with a device driver
but was not told which device!
I had WinFax Pro installed which I believe caused all the proble...

Windows Start sound
What controls the length of time the Windows Start sound plays?
I am attempting to use .wav files that run about 1 min 30
secs. That is about the time it takes after log-in to when
Windows XP SP2 is ready for business. Any of these longer
wav files run for a variety of times, never the same,
usually stopping between 20 secs and 1 min+. I have booted
"vanilla" with almost every TSR shut ...
