What's the best synchronization software?
Hi all,
I have a working directory at work on my office PC. And I some times do work
at home at my home PC. And I also keep a copy on my laptop. Due to company
policies, I have to use USB drive to copy and paste from one computer to
another. I keep adding/deleting/modifying files on these three computers and
the directories are now a mess. I ...

Help and Support won't start
Hi,
I can't get Help and Support to start, either from the start menu or by
directly opening the file
C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\helpctr.exe.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

xcopy /d date-switch not detected?
Hello all,
I am trying to setup a backup-script with xcopy like this:
xcopy C:\projects Z:\backup\projecs /D /E /I /Y
But all files are copied each time it is run. Since /D switch is
given without date then only newer files should be copied, right? What
am I missing?

Is this the way it's supposed to be?
The LED for my HD flashes on and off once or twice per second, even
when there is no application running and the machine is just sitting
there. On my old 98SE machine the LED for the HD never flashed unless
I saved a file or opened something. The rest of the time it remained
dark while I played Solitaire or Sudoku or some such thing.
It seems unnatural that my Dell Dimension C521 with XP ...

Multiple Copy/Move?
I know I can copy/move a selected group of files to one location but I have
a need to do the reverse, that is copy or move 1 file to selected multiple
locations. Is this possible either directly through XP or indirectly through
some macro/utility/program without having to do it one copy/move at a time?

standby not an option in shut down menu
Hello. I recently reinstalled Windows XP Pro SP2, and I have updated my video
card (BFG GeForce 7950GT) to the latest drivers. When I go to the "Shut
Down..." option in the Start menu, there is no option for "stand by" as there
used to be. Can anyone please let me know how to get this option back?

how to remove search bar IE7
How???
And is it possible to make the address bar shorter? The top section of the
internet explorer seems to be expanding. First there's the title bar, then
the menu bar, then the links bar, then the tabs. It's all adding up, using a
sizable chunk of the screen now. The links for example could have just the
icon, not necessary to have the whole name... it's a link that I put there,

Backup - program not included in System Tools

Updates won't install
Just did a repair (not the complete install) with XP Pro SP2. Now when I go
to Windows Update it searches and downloads 76 updates, but when I click
Install it reports that it was unable to install some updates (actually all
76). Why will it not install them?? Any fix for this? TIA.

Cannot Search on Yahoo or MSN
I cannot search on the search engines on Yahoo.com or MSN.com or Netscape.com
or many others. I get an error stating "the webpage cannot be found."
However, if I seach on About.com or Ask.com my search results come up. I am
totally lost. Help!!!!

Internet shortcuts gone dead.
Any ideas on how to fix my problem of shortcuts to internet addresses not
working. For example, a shortcut to http://www.anyaddres.com produces no
response at all. Completely dead. Shortcuts to local addresses work fine,
such as to c:\\program files\diskpie\diskpie.exe, which will open diskpie.

Set-Up Screen Being Skipped
I posted this the other day but I can't find it now on the forum
When we click on the Netscape Icon to go to the set-up screen to click on
our names to get on the internet....the set-up screen is automatically
by-passed and it starts a connection immediately.
I don't know where to go to change this. We need the set-up screen to come
up in case of changes needed in the future.

help at Walmart, they won't answer their phone number...just get a

openned windows couldn't be found in the middle of the taskbar
I'm using Windows XP, SP2,
Problem as per captioned title.
Any idea on restoring the opened windows back to the middle of the taskbar?
They simply not found anywhere in the taskbar. The only way to call back the
individual window by "Alt Tab" keys and toggle one by one sequentially.

Mouse issues
Using Windows XP, 2nd edition.
The mouse gets stuck within one inch of the top of the screen and just

PC Not going to Sleep/Standby
I previously posted this in a Logitech foroum but hav eyet to obtain a
solution. Here is my issue:
I just began using my MX Revolution mouse and have noticed my PC will not

Add / Remove Button will not appear
I have Windows XP on my computer. Recently, I removed several programs by
using the Add/Remove programs feature in control Panel. They were all
removed sucessfully. Shortly after I had to restore my computer to an

my daughter brought a comp from our local cash convertors and everything was
fine it said it had genuine win xp proffesional but now 6 mths on after the
warrenty has run out its coming up not a genuine copy and when u turn it on
