video not working on XP
I am trying to look at the NFL draft players highlights video on Yahoo
and my system XP
gives me this error: Your system is unable to play the selected
video. When I go to help
It says:

center text in myspace
I am using the latest version of IE and am trying to update a new
myspace profile...I am using the html codes for center as I have done
before updating another myspace profile I have in Firefox...when I do
that, the text isn't centered...is there somethign else I have to add
to the code besides the <center> </center> tags?

help!
first off this is more a question about yahoo then microsoft.... so i hope i
do not offend thee... i do however have windows xp..... so there is the
microsoft blurb... anyway..i currently have yahoo messenger installed and
when i try to retrive it from my contol panel board it wont come up but all

windows 2000 MS Config
I know how to do MSConfig with XP. However, I have an older computer with
Windows 2000 and I want to see what programs are starting up. My computer
takes forever to start up and I suspect it is because too many programs are
starting.
I go into Start, right mouse and properties, but the Start menu shows only
one program starting up.
Can you point me in the right direction?

When trying to save files to a CD using an HP CD-Writer it keeps .
sending me an error message "please insert a disc into the HP CD Wr.... I'm
using the "HP Record Now" s/w. I know when I first got this computer I had
to delete my usb ports and then reboot in order for my computer to recognize
them so that I could use them. I think it is something to do with plug and
play, not sure. Anyway, I thought I'd try that and then I thought I'd better

Moving folders to new hard drive.
I'm running out of room on my C drive. I bought a 160G external hard drive
for pictures, music, videos. When moving folders to the new drive, those
same folders still exist on the old drive. I thought the folder would be
moved, not copied and moved. If I delete the folder on the old drive will
the new folder on the new drive still be accessible? My concern is that the

Wont sleep, cant sleep
Hi XP wizards
my PC has decided to refuse to 'sleep'. When I press the button it enters
the sleep mode but then immediately starts up again. I have wireless
keyboard and mouse and have tried disabling them but to no effect.

Copy not copying the whole file
Hi All
I have an C++ application which writes to a log file.
I tried to do a copy of the log file.
The original log file has 20 lines, however when I copy (while the
program that feeds the log file file is still running) I find in the
copied file has only 18 lines.
Note: I can open the log file in Notepad only while the program that
feeds the log file is running. If I open in Wordpad ...

WinXp: PDF Editor
Can anyone advise me what is a good best PDF editor that works well with

IE7 & Favorites Irritation
I have an 8 mo old XP Media Center machine, with IE7 & all Win updates
current. As I recall........shortly after allowing IE7 to install, I
noticed that my rather Large Favorites folder (including many subfolders)
was/is opening in expanded form. Granted, it is not a Problem......but is
quite irritating. I've searched Help & the web to no avail........perhaps
not hitting upon the corr...

Conflict in file systems
How can I change the file system on an external drive? I have saved files to
it from my laptop as NTFS but when I connect it to my desktop the properties
window says the file system is RAW, so it will not read from or write to the
drive. Any suggestions please?...

Killing the last of Norton
I have removed my Norton System Works 2005 (just too much overhead for
me) from my system via Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel. As usual
some junk stayed around that I was able to get with a registry cleaner
program (I could not get Norton Removal Tool to work - expired or some
such...) The olny thing left are 2 services left in the system. I

Many thank for your hints. Following them I was able to put intonation
marks on vowels,namely
upper bar, acute accent, upper upside down cap and grave accent.
Example:holding Alt and typing (right keyboard) 257 gives a with and
upper bar.
Like this I can type all vowels with their intonation marks needed
in the Chinese Pinyin.

Not able to turn off system restore
I have been trying to get rid of some Exploit-Byte Verify files that I
believe have buried themselves in my system restore file. McAfee solution is
to turn off the system restore and then delete files. When I try check the
"Turn off system restore" and then highlight the drive and set the number of
points to 0, I'm told that I am unable to do that. Any thoughts?...

can't view my movie
Hi,
I'm trying to watch a movie downloaded from the internet and can't open it.
It ends with .avi.I can't seem to open it with Windows media player.
It just says the program used to compress the folder is unknown.
Any ideas.

Remove Lotus 123 and Approach and AmiPro
Lotus Smart Suite 3.0 (123 Rel 5, AmiPro3.1 and Approach) appear in my
Programs list, but not in my Add/Remove list.
How can I remove them?
Don't tell me to do anything with the registry, for I am not comfortable
with that.
The disks (floppies) don't have an Uninstall that I can see.
