Okay, this is going to sound dumb, but i cannot get my sound to work...
Troubleshooting says there's no problems, nothing is muted, and my volume
bars say they're up as high as they go...
Can anyone help me?...

View Contents of a CD-Rom that Autoruns
Hello,
I have a simple question that I can't remember how to solve. I have a
CD Rom that launches the installer automatically every time I put it
in. What's the command to be able to access the actual contents of
the CD in an explorer view?

XP errors are locking me out - can anyone help?
Hi, I'm encountering the following error messages:
Process ID = 0xeb4 (3764) Thread ID = 0xeb8 (3768)
Debug fails. No icons open and there are no applications appearing in the
task manager.
When I try to download updates (in the hope that something may help) the
check machine fails with error code 0x80070424.
Has anyone any ideas - or can you please point me in the right directi...

Anybody familiar with this application and can explain what its function

Blue Screen Critical Error
I am running Windows XP Home SP2 w/o problems for two years. I am set to
allow Microsoft to download upgrades etc automatically. A few weeks ago
the following programme appeared "Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications

GUI is all washed out, want Win2K / Office 2000 look and feel back
We just upgraded our computers from Win2K & Office 2000 to WinXP &
Office 2007. So far, this has been a very frustrating & time-consuming
experience.
Of the many changes, the one I want to fix first is the contrast of
the menus. Everything looks washed out. My eyes aren't as good as they
once were and I can't tell where one window ends and the next begins.

How to delete Shell Extensions
Hello. I have a WinXP SP1 system. Oftentimes, when I install a new
program, that program adds a shell extension (context menu handlers) to the
registry. So when I right-click on a related file, these annoying items
appear. Anyone know how to permanently disable/delete these items? Thanks

Change Drive Letter
Hello,
I have 2 external drives.
They were named "F" and "G".
Somehow, the drive letters have changed.
I tried going to the drive, right click to bring up list and use it to
"RENAME" the drives. (EXAMPLE (F:) (F:) or (G:)... (G:)
All that occured was it added the change to what was already there.
I have tired going through the instructions for changing a drive letter

check disk options
I'm getting the blue screen 'IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error when I log off each
time. When I run "chkdsk", it only goes through 3 stages and the check is
over in less than a minute. Is there a more comprehensive check I can run,
similar to the old scandisk?
For the record, I've disconnected my external hard drive and all recently
loaded drivers, plus uninstalled norton antivirus softw...

Microsoft DirectX add/remove
(1) How do I remove the older version of directx ?
(2) Is it necessary to remove it ?
(3) When I install the newer version, does it automatically removes the older version ?
I don't see any sign of directx posted on the 'Add or Remove Programs' in 'Control Panel'. I am

New WinXP machine can't see shared Win2K disk
We just bought 2 new machines running XP pro to replace two older
machines running Win2K Pro.
All 4 are attached to a p2p network. The two Win2K machines have been
sharing folders over this same network for 5-6 years with no problems.
For some reason, the WinXP machines cannot see the shared XP folders.
The folders on the machine where they reside show the hand to indicate

Disabling the logon requirement and cleaning up user accounts
I had to replace my hard-drive due to a fatal crash. The reinstallation went
well and I am once again up and running. I also took this opportunity to put
in a new video card, an ATI Radeon X1300 Pro.
I have always preferred to be able to just turn on my machine and go. Since
no one else has access to this machine, I feel perfectly fine setting my
system up to go straight to my dektop on...

Windows Media Player Sound problem
The sound on Windows Media Player 11.0 does not play well. All the sound
files on my computer play properly when played by their own source. When any
of these files are played on the Media Player, the first 20 seconds or so is
scatchy and full of static. From that point on it plays fine. The
visualization stalls during the 20 sec period. Any new file plays OK as long
as the Media Player ...

Context Menu
I am using Firefox 2.0.0.3 with Onspeed accelerator. Can you suggest an easy
way to add another entry to the right click menu when I view an image.
There should be an entry " show original image " which reloads it should it
be blurred, but even though I have reinstalled onspeed 2/3 times it is still
missing. It shows perfectly in IE.
Onspeed say they are compactable with Firefox, but I am...
