hardware installation
The hardware wizward does not find my RS232 ports on the computer.
I checked the Bios and they exist.
Is there a way to install the hardware driver for these outside of the
wizward?...

Windows File Protection
Can someone please tell me how to disable Windows file Protection? I'm using
F-Secure virus/etc. protection, and I've been advised to turn off WFP since
my computer is now taking an AGE to start up. Apparently "this might cause
System File Checker (sfc.exe) to go through certain DLL and EXE files at
startup" which bogs things down.

How do I clean up the Documents and Settings folder?
Following a problem period when I had to reinstall Windows XP several times I
note that I have many folders in my Documents and Settings folder, such as
Administrator, All Users, Default User, Guest, OEM, which I am happy with,
plus OAM, OEM.CENTRAL.002, All Users.WINDOWS, etc….. I suspect that all
these latter files are not helping the smooth running of XP and wonder if
