PC automatically reboots after shutdown
Using XP Pro w/SP2 and automatic updates turned on. My PC just started this
problem after automatic updates downloaded and installed severl updates just
a few days ago. When I shutdown the PC I have to watch and cut the power
when it starts to reboot. If I don't do this, I am soon back at the Windows
Welcome Screen. Any suggestions? TIA, Jim.

Recycle Bin Not working properly
Hey :)
I'm trying to fix my dad's pc, and I'm having a real issue with the recycle
bin.
When the bin is right-clicked on the desktop, the only options are these:
Cut
Paste
Create shortcut
Delete
There is a recycler folder, which contains about 2gb of files. If I rename
that folder and then delete something XP creates a new recycler folder, but
the desktop shortcut is...

volume control won't install missing SndVol32 filess
Going crazy here...I have no volume control available. My soundcard is
Creative Labs soundblaster. Apparently I am missing the volume control system
files.
Windows says I need to install sndvol32.exe by going to the control panel
add programs, but it is not available there under accessories or elsewhere. I
found it on the XP cd as sndvol32.ex_ but I do not know where to copy the
file to...

Cascade my computer?
The Start ->settings-> control panel cascades, i.e., the many CP control
sections, unfurl. Is there a way to make My Computer display its contents,
so that for example I cann get easily to the floppy drive? The help files
don't recognize my search terms, so 'cascade' is not the word. Suggestions
would be appreciated.

Default account log-on
I am using Windows XP SP2. I have set up two users. One is used
frequently, the other rarely.
At start up (and after going dormant) I have to choose which account to
log-in as. Is it possible to set this so that if I make no input within x
second it will default to one account?
TIA

problem.
I can't open a new window fron a link on a page. I can open a new default

a problem with the feature "auto hide the task bar"
Hi,
My XP's "auto hide the task bar" is always turned on. But sometimes the
task bar is not automatically hidden. Then the task bar blocks the bottom
part of the active window that may have buttons or horizontal scroll bars.
I normally need to close all the active windows to make XP back to normal.
Turning the "auto hide the task bar" option off and on again normally just

Time adjustment: W32Time fails D4Time OK
I have for a long time fought my Windows XP HE fully updated
on automatic clock syncronization.
Once upon a time I believe I can have seen W32Time occationally
successful (as reported in EVENTVWR), but now I only have
error reports.
As I have two other computers (running W98 and W98SE) on my
local network and for those I use D4Time which works without

Excessive Diak accessing
Over the past week or two, I have noticed a lot of hard disk activitiy I did
not have before. I run XP and no changes other than updates have been made.
Several monitoring tools have not shown the problem but the Process Monitor
utility shows explorer.exe as the one doing all the read/writes, over and
over. Indexing is not on. Did an update make a change in disk activity for
some reason?...

Click/Double Click in XP
I have always had a possessed PC. Visual Foxpro development environment
windows used to require clicking the close window twice. I thought perhaps
I was moving the mouse too quickly over the X in the main window, but no.
Now it appears that any window requires 2, sometimes 3 clicks on the X to
actually close the window. The problem seemed to get worse when I started
using dual monitors...

Why the partition?
Was wondering why my dell demension e310 has two drives, (C:), 51.21GB and
(D:) 18.32GB. "D" drive is labeled "backup." I have never saved anything on
the D drive, and it always has 99% free space. Should I start using this
extra 20 gig drive for whatever? What is it for? Answers appreciated! ...

was selecting Media Player and then for the first time I looked at Autoplay
