using WMS to re-stream live feeds
I hope this is a really simple question :)
We have lots of Win2k3 servers available but we have never used the
WMS component.
We are currently getting caned by 100s of users on our LAN streaming
the SAME government streaming media site (watching parliamentary
proceedings). This kills our internet bandwidth.
Can we use WMS in our W2k3 server to pull the live stream to a single
LAN server and...

Is HTTP rollover working?
Hi there,
I am using the MMS protocol to stream video content (URL is:
mms://publishingpoint/filename.wmv). I am also using IIS on port 80. I
have the WMS HTTP Server Control Protocol enabled (running on port 81
so as not to conflict with iis) and I want to know if the rollover is
actually working.
How do I test it? Is the only way setting up my own firewall and
blocking non-HTTP protoc...

Streaming Videos On A Site Running Classic ASP
Hello,
We have a site that offers videos to members, but they currently have
the ability to save these videos. We're looking to provide a streaming
solution (and possibly - a DRM-based solution in the long run) and are
looking at some ways of securing this from unregistered members.
We've already got Windows Media Services 9 Series installed on our
servers.
What I want to know is how ...

Windows Vista WMP11 + D-Link DSM320 + Go-Video D2730
I am attempting to use the media server included in Windows Vista (formerly
Windows Media Connect?) with both my DSM-320 and D2730. It is working quite
well with the DSM-320. However, on the D2730, I can connect to the server,
but MP3's will not play. All I here are hiss and pops, even though I can
access my entire media collection. Again, the DSM-320 works great (better
than D-Links...

"On-demand" file NOT not streamable immediately?
Hi there,
I use windows media encoder to periodically create files. These files
are accessible on a windows media publishing point and then acessed
over the internet.
I have noticed that the most recent file created takes some time to be
accessible on the web, but is not accessible immediately once it is
created (it may take an HOUR or more). I know one cannot stream a .wmv
file while i...

questions about WM server roadmap
Hello Windows Media Server people.
Quick intro: Windows Media Server has to be one of my favorite MS
technologies, and one that my companies have invested deeply in. We do a few
dozen webcasts per day, and run several sites that host thousands of hours of
video content.
All of it is Windows Media based, all built around Windows Media Server.
In recent months I have become very worried...

Please include the version Server OS, the version WMS, and process to enable
this to be done.

to worry about that....

stream with authentication to mac clients
I can't seem to get NTLM authentication to work on a mac. I've
downloaded Windows Media Components for Quicktime and even Windows Media
Player 9 for Mac. Nothing seems to get around this issue. Is there a
way to use a difference type of authentication (secure, not clear text)
or get a Mac client to authenticate correctly with NTLM? Thanks for any
advice you can provide.

Allow file downloads
I have setup my WMA server with a publishing point from a directory. It works
great for streaming archived MP3 audio files like I want it too with http
protocol.
But I also want to allow users to click on a link and be able to download
the file. How do I do that?
Now when I right click on the link to my MP3 and try to Save Target As...,
it wants to save a .wax file.
Is there so...

WMS 9: Muliple RTSP sessions over one TCP connection
Hello,
While experimenting with the WMS 9 I have noticed that I cann't create
multiple sessions at time over one TCP connection. My test does the following
Step 1: Establishes a TCP connection to WMS 9 server
Step 2: Sends "SETUP" request to create a session
Step 3: Sends another "SETUP" again to create second session
The Step3 fails. I get the error "454 sessio...
