Other protocols?
Heya all.. so I've been playing with WME streaming up to the server and
out.. and my sysadmin says to use the mms:// links (assuming an MMS protocol
usage).. non-IE browsers seem to have a problem with this.. and even the
spawned HTML page from WMS has MMS embedded.. so are there other protocol
options for delivery of a live stream? Thanks

Playback of wmv via Helix with WMP11
We currently serve many wmv files from a Helix server using MMS protocol.
Since the introduction of WMP11 we've discovered that WMP11 won't playback a
true stream of a wmv file off of the Helix server. In some cases the user
gets an error that "the specified protocol is not supported", in other cases
the file will play, but it is downloaded in the background so one can't skip

Posting high quality video on WMS
I'm struggling to understand the ins and outs of on-demand video with
WMS. I'm trying to explain intelligently how, msnbc video for
example, is so much clearer and fluid than the videos we are putting
out on the internet via Windows Media Services.
Basically, we are taking a DVD and encoding it into a WMV with WMS and
then creating an on-demand publishing point. If I encode it at 300K

Hide WMA file names in ASX file
Hi,
Thanks for looking into my question.
I have two scenarios where I want to stream WMA files.
#1: I have all DRM protected WMA files on my web site. My server has both
WMS and IIS. The user is allowed to select a couple songs on web pages. I
need to stream those selected files. How we can create the dynamic playlist?
I have implemented my website in ASPX.

playlist buffer image
Is there a way in an smil playlist to have an image display while the
player is buffering the video? Even better would be having a very
short video play while a longer one buffers.
I'm using WMS using wsx playlist files. I think I've seen the tag
around somewhere, but I can't find it anywhere now.
Thanks for any help.

There are 5-6 clients (Media players) that connect to each of these

and restart them as required. But the WMS is always running fine.
But every few hours a strange problem is observed. The player is not able to
