missing mss2 (Screen Codec), wmcodecdsp.h and wmvsencd.dll
Hello,
I'm trying to use the MSS2 (Screen Capture Codec) in an application.
But when I try running the app, it says the Codec is not available.
As I searched the MSDN stuff, I found the files wmcodecdsp.h and
wmvsencd.dll referenced in some articles about the Screen Codec, but they are
also not available on my system.
I installed the Windows Media Video 9 VCM, Windows Media 9 Encoder Serie...

Checkup of WME Installation
Hi folks,
Is there an easy way to check whether WME is installed on the End user
machine. I know I can try to create the object and catch failures but
I want to add this checkup in the installation process of my
software.
thanks'

Unable to Monitor Record Level: 2 Approaches in VB? SOS!!!!!!
I've looked through the posts on this issue and the news is not good. Perhaps
we can all pull together (I see many posts on this) and come up with a group
solution as MS dosen't seem to feel this is an issue worth addressing. I
guest all non-predefined UI's are for silent webcasting only; how quaint!
My Solution #1: This Works but has issues
The best solution I have found thus far i...

USB audio recording into media encoder 9
Is there a recommended list of USB based audio interfaces that work with
media encoder 9? We're looking to improve audio recording of meetings and
I've read some good reviews of products like the Digidesign MBOX 2 but it's
not clear whether this would work with media encoder 9.
Cheers, Rob.

Audio Level; There must be some help from MS for this!
Its all well and good that we can embed a WME video preview in our
applications, but that is pretty useless if we cant get the audio recording
level?
Is there any way to get the audio level during a live encode and display
this or display the just the mixer from the predefined UI on a panel
or display an audio plugin without having to use c++.
Any VB.net or even c# examples would ...

Like Live TV on Media Center
I'm trying to set up media encoder to let me view the live output from my
tuner card, but without any real success. The preview window quality is
quite poor, and appears to be skipping many frames, not to mention there is
no audio. Media Center is capable of reading the tv output at a much better
quality, and uses a much lower cpu load. I don't have any intention of
recording the outp...

manipulation of the file
So if we have ME9 setup to capture locally to a file.. how easily can that
be manipulated/converted and then built into an HTML page for future
viewing? I know the server side has a publishing process to generate the
related .htm files.. but if I wanted to do that manually (say the client
doesn't want to install/run the server)...
Thx

IWMEncoder Source
I wish IWMEncoder was open source or that at least the source was available
somehow. I want to add the ability to pause encoding of a file, but that is
not an option. It would be an easy option to add, but instead I have to
rewrite the whole thing myself just to add this one feature. What a huge
waste of time. I'll be doing that instead of adding other features to my
application.

Indexing .WMV file with thumbnails and markers
Hi All,
I am programmatically encoding video using Windows Media Encoder. I
have managed to extract screenshots from the video (Thanks, Neil!). I
would like to achieve indexing similar to motionbox (http://
www.motionbox.com/video/player/799dd8b71b1cf6#1) so that a user can
click on a gif image and simply "jump" to a particular part of the
video...
Do I need to encode the file with mark...

Pausing Encoding
Is there a way to pause and restart encoding? Or do I need to start over if I
stop it?
I have some time critical code that cannot be processing video in the
background. But starting the conversion over would be annoying since all the
previous work would be thrown out.

HD Capture Hardware Recommendation
I have a Dish Network 622 HD DVR. It has multiple HD outputs (hdmi /

the HD video and Dolby Digital Audio (or DTS or whatever the progam has) so
that I can use WMP to create an HD file for playback via WMP 11.
While I've seen many boards (like the Intensity) that handle HD Video it

widescreen or not...
OK, so I have a Canon Mini-DV cam that shoots in true widescreen HD sending
composite to a Winnov Videum 1000 capture card, which is then read by
Encoder 9 and streamed up to the server. Everything works perfectly.. EXCEPT
that I get the 320 x 240 screen and not widescreen. Even setting the encoder
to crop to a widescreen-like format doesn't do anything.. the image remains
almost square....
