Video Flickering/Audio Popping
While streaming live using WME 9 I sometime encounter a problem where my
video will start to flicker or my audio begins popping. Neither issue can be
located at my source so I'm thinking it's either my capture card or the
encoder. Has anybody run into this issue?

External access to web camera
I am having trouble setting my computer to give other people access to my web

The encoder has given me the IP to quote but nobody can see it, what am i
doing wrong? My system is connected thru a BT Broadband Hub connection and
the computer in question is wireless with a BT adapter.
I have been told that the program is giving me an internal IP and not an

Latency tolerance between encoder and player or server
We need to stream a to a single viewer (WMP no server) through a VPN that
apparently introduces a 30ms delay. Is that too long for the player to
sustain a connection? How long is too long? Are there any encoder/player
adjustments that could be made to prevent any problems?
Thanks...

No Sound on Output
Hi! I have a ATI All-In-Wonder. I've WME to grab from the ATI Card for both
audio and video (have also tried the realtec card). I push from the card to
a TV. The video pushes fine, but not the audio; although the audio shows in
the audio capture portion of the screen. I'm able to get this working
successfully with the Tuner software by choosing 4 for audio input. I don't
see any se...

Encoding into multiple bit rates
Hi there,
I have a windows media encoder that is programmatically called and
records shows in .wmv format. However, I want to configure the encoder
to save the video into *2* .wmv files - one high quality and one low
quality. Is this possible to achieve?
Thanks!

Incomplete .wmv not streamable.
Hi,
I record tv shows programmatically with my windows media encoder.
Sometimes, I shutdown my recording program and there is consequently
and incomplete .wmv file.
I CAN open the file on the desktop by using "open". However, it seems
that the file is not indexed, since I cannot drag the pointer (fast
forward) the show.
The problem is that accessing it through the URL via mms. is

Indexing with WMEncBasicEdit super slow on dual processors
Hello WME group,
I have an interesting problem... When I try to Index a local file using
WMEncBasicEdit on a single processor, it completes quickly, even for large
files (in maybe 1 or 2 minutes). When I try the exact same process on the
exact same file on a dual processor (XP and 2000) machine, it takes over 2
hours. I have tried setting the process affinity to run on a single

Using a graph as an input to a WMEncoder?
For audio only...Is it possible to use a graph as an input to a WMEncoder
instance?
I need to implement a custom fade in my broadcast stream, a fade which I've
already implemented in my graph playback. I assumed that I could use the
output from the graph as an input to my encoder and then pushing that to my
broadcast point. But I cant seem to get the connection from the graph to the

How to does one write a Video Transform Filter DMO for WME 9?
Are there ANY complete examples that just simply do a DirectX Memory Object
(DMO) Video Transform Filter for Windows Media Encoder 9 SDK?
Then is there code to use it from VB .Net 2003?
Just need to be able to grab a frame or update the frame in place.
Any ideas on where to start?
Looks like one has to use C++... I'd prefer an example in C# if at all
possible.

Poor video encoding with WMF SDK 9.5?
Our video server when running with wmfdist90.exe (redistributal for
WMF 9.0) seems to produce a proxy wmv file with reasonable quality.
When the redistributal, wmfdist95.exe is used, the quality seems to
drop and is noticable poorer. The profile settings for the both
encodings are the same and read in from the app.config:

Encoder only crashes if I use "deinterlace" as an option for encoding VoD

Source WMV - Deinterlace crashes
Source AVI - Deinterlace works / Quality is bad
Have not tried recoding a live stream yet.
Anyone experience this as well?
Anyone figured out a solution?

OK..I restart my computer, then load WME 9.0. It takes FOREVER! I have tried
this also with a saved configuration, same thing. If I change any settings,
the program locks up and I have to turn ppower off to my computer.
If I don't change anything, eventually I can get to where I can close the
program.

Metadata fileds for TV shows or epsiodes
Hi,
did someone know, which metadata fields should set to wmv files?
I found some information for Zune

but wmp 11 seems not correctly support the WM/SubTitle metadata. If I set
the Author metadata, the first entry seems to take place of the WM/SubTitle
metadata. In the right list view the name looks like:

DirectShow alternative to WME
I want to develop my own encoder with directshow. If I use WME in my 3GHZ XP
PC, and receive the audio/video in the same PC in WMP(all ver 9.0) the delay
time is in the order of seconds. Is it possibly to obtain shorter delay with
my private encoder using standard directshow filters?
If positive, what is a typical value for this delay time?
Thanks
