this cause a problem -- might it indicate an infection? be the cause for

windows firewall and onecare package
I subscribed to the 90-day trial period of ms onecare. I understand that
windows firewall is NOT part of this package, but rather is an integral part
of vista (home premium, in my case)
but this understanding may be wrong! if it is, please apprise. I am confused
as to the relation between windows defender and windows firewall.
anyway, windows firewall has a proclivity to shut itself of...

2nd backup, not 1st (again)
I purchased a new laptop with Vista Home Premium, moved my files from my old
XP Pro to it, installed the programs I use, then did a backup to DVD (more
than one - not a quick process). Now when I tried to do another backup, it
said this is the first time so it will back up everything (again???). Why
won't it just figure out what changed since the first time I did a backup, a
few weeks ...

Firewall blocks ALL outgoing traffic though rules for passing exis
I've asked this question some months ago. I still haven't found a solution.
What should be done?
In Microsoft's firewall all software can pass their traffic out to the
internet. This is very dangerous (e.g. keyloggers). Only software that was
allowed to should be able for outgoing traffic!
What have I done?
In extended configuration I blocked outgoing traffing for all profiles. I

Parental Controls vs. proxies
Hello all...
I am a little bewildered at the moment reagarding Vista's parental controls,
and am curious how other people have handled this.
I set up PC on my girlfriend's computer last weekend, to keep her
god-daughter off of i.e., myspace.com.
Then her god-daughter actually admitted to getting around her school's
filters.
So i asked a few friends about this (i am more a software gu...

Confused - OneCare with ad-aware
Hi, I have a new computer and purchased One Care. I was told that is all I
need.
A friend sent me a ad-aware to download and said I should be using
additional sercurity downloads like ad-aware.
I'm new to all of this, do I need to run additional security checks? Is
ad-aware compatible. If so, it would have to be easy (ie. download and hit
run). If I'm required to turn stuff ...

Prblems with Complete-PC backup
When I try to start a Complete-PC backup i get this error message:
"It occurred a error which is not temporarily on the printer. If you try to
run the backup again, the error probably will show again. (0x800423F4)"
This is translated from the Norwegian error message, so the English error
message will probably be different.
I tried to back it up to my secondary hard drive.

Bypassing User Account Control dialog window
User Account Control asks for permission each time I load an "unidentified
program", no matter how many times I load it. Is there a way to bypass this
message so the program loads normally? In other words, can Vista be
instructed to trust certain programs so it doesn't need to ask permission to
load them?
Thank you.
