Customizing User Accounts
I need to set up a user in Vista with less permission than the standard user account. For example, I don't want the user to be able to create ANY files outside of the profile. I don't want the user to be able to change the wallpaper or the screen saver. I need to limit the user's access to the Control Panel more than usual. Etcetera, etcetera. How can I customize the account in this way?...

Latest Vista Patch(es) Changing IE7 Security Zones?
After installing the latest round of Vista and IE7 patches this morning, McAfee threw up an error that the an automated process was trying to change the IE7 security zones (details below). This is probably legit since it happened on reboot after installing the patches, but it still seems a bit odd (I declined each of the modifications). Anyone have any thoughts or info on this change, ...

Certificate Management
I am having trouble managing Certificates. My machine is part of a small workgroup, running Vista Ultimate. I have created a load of development certs using makecert. I do not have a CA. I thought I could manage my certs using the MMC certificates snap-in, but I am presented with a very limited number of options under "All tasks". All I get is Open and Export. I expected to see much m...

Securely delete messages in windows Mail?
I have just added Vista as a dual-boot with XP Pro. I have been using OE for my mail and newsgroups. For security reasons I have always shredded the messages (.dbx files) instead of using the usual maintenance routine. I would like to do the same with Windows Mail. How would I accomplish this? Further, Does anyone know of a good eraser/shredder utility that is engineered for use with Vista?...

"Windows Security Center Services can't be started"
I downloaded and installed Norton antivirus 2007 for Vista. After a successful download, I turned on the firewall, checked for security updates, and ran live update. Now, the Security Center Services will not open. I talked to symantec and they informed me that once I downloaded Norton 2007, it migrated with Windows security and there is no problem. I have a GREEN check mark on my No...

Cannot access local shares via the Network window
Hello, I am logged in as a sub-administrator (not as the "super" administrator) into Vista Biz. I've created a folder, "Test" and shared it only with the Administrators group (of which my login account is a member -- it is NOT a member of the Users group). (I've turned off the Sharing Wizard and set up the shares via the Advanced Sharing button). I can access the folder in by it's ...

Cannot Download AT&T DSL connection to Dell Laptop E1705 with VIST
I have a brand new Dell E1705 Laptop with Microsoft Vista preinstalled by Dell. GUI available for editing service ACL?
Hi, currently I am searching a program with GUI for editing the ACL descriptors of windows services.
