Plain and Simple, help me increase performance
I really don't want to have to deal with all the crap about either Vista
sucks, or it's not Vista, it's my computer. I just want to know what to do. A
lot of people have described computers that were bought have a lot of
Junkware on them and that's not Vista's fault. I've gone through my
Add/Remove Programs and removed everything that I knew wasn't important. My
RAM usage dropped from 50...

Vista Updates - are they always a good idea to download?
Hi,
I have been told in the past that it is not always the best idea to download
windows updates (XP) just because they are available,as it can cause
problems. Is that the case with Vista as well? Or are the updates actually
fixing bugs etc and would definitely solve some problems?
thanks

Windows Mail
Windows Mail has developed a most irritating bug. Every single newsgroup
message I select will download fast, as usual, but then it pops up like it
should and vanishes. Both cores of my CPU hit 50% for around 4 or 5 seconds
and then the message will re-appear.
This issue was evident for me previously but vanished after a reformat. I
have reset all my groups, done the maintenance and ...

I get a clear display of words, however, the display of pictures is blurry.
Also when I am trying to look at weather radars, the picture display is not

When I first purchase this computer it worked as it should, this is a new
problem. I am not very computer literate, is there a simple solution? I

Vista too slow
I have a decent machine: a HP T5500 duo core with 2gb of ram and an ATI 7600
mobile video card and it comes with Vista Ultimate. But I am very
disappointed with the performance. My new PC is much slower than my very old
desktop with XP. Opening a session is very frustrating, same with the mail
and Explorer. I removed Norton and other junkware (HP is terrible for that)
but the performance...

Office Pro 2007 and OpenOffice 2.2 repeatedly crash when opening/saving files
Office Pro 2007 and OpenOffice 2.2 repeatedly crash when opening/saving
files--for most, if not all, file formats.
I haven't as yet experienced this with other apps the past three weeks.
It seems to be getting worse, if that were even possible. Both of them
will almost always crash right when saving or opening. Sometimes they'll
crash when browsing for their file destinations.
Am using a...

Excessive RAM usage?
Hi, my laptop is brand new today, and I have set up the computer performance
gadget on my sidebar. It shows the CPU usage and the RAM usage. The CPU has
been changing as normal when I am doing different tasks on my laptop. But the
RAM usage just sits at around 80% all the time, hardly changing at all. This
is still the case with no major programs running - and it still sits at about
80%....

just annoying, but yesterday I turned on the computer and got a "logging off"

Great Suggestion for Disk Defragmenter

or basically the performance quality of the Disk Defragmenter according to

when I am not using my computer and it is very dragging to see it take
