Vista shut down problem
Vista Home Premium connected with line to Siemens Gigaset 555 WLAN dsl
router , another connection to same router by Mac laptop. Internet
connection is set to " always on" for practical reasons. Mac laptop has not
any problem with such connection, but PC with Vista can't be shut down , it
stays always on , it can be shut down only by hard shut down (4 sec. press
power buton).
Please help...

Windows Mail and Calender should be up and running on start/restar
I miss the old ways when I could place my *exe file in some startup folder to
get my programs started whenever I started or restarted my computer.
-Is it possible for me to get my windows mail and windows calender started
automatically so i don't miss my appointments. Any time I remember to check
my calender I have missed something already. I dont have a REMINDER until i
remember to run...

Disk Defrag not Working
I have Vista Home Basic and the darn thing won't defrag. I have tried
multiple times to defrag and every time the computer acts like it's defraging
and then says "You could improve performance by defragmenting your
harddrive." This is getting on my nerves. Anybody got any suggestions?...

peculiar problem
Vista seems to be always losing my monitor specific settings, and reverting
to generic. Is there something I can do to correct that?
I am using a Samsung syncmaster 753 df crt monitor, if thats any help. And
it won't let me increase refresh rate beyond 60 without giving me an out of
synch black screen at reboot, or sooner.

How to block startup programs
I think ive got some p2p programs installed from my xp (like kazaa nitro e
emule) witch i think start together with my windows n uses all my band...
want to block them n when i wanna use alow.
Was expecting it easy now like just click n alow or block but the defender
seens to be just for informations and not for actions.

When Uninstalling Programs Start Menu Shortcut Remains
On the occasions when I have uninstalled stuff I have noticed that the start
menu shortcut and the folder in "c\program files" remain and I have to
delete them manually. Is there any way to make this happen automatically?

stripey screen
im running windows vista ultimate 64bit, ive seen a lot of the stripey screen
since i installed it. it happens when i leave my computer for a while and
come back then i cant even turn it off or when i try to launch some games
such as WoW but then i can just quit the game by clicking esc what could it
be? any help would be greaty appriciated...

Desktop Blink at Startup - ANNOYING
I am running Vista Home Prof. on a Vaio. When I boot up everything works but
after I log in and the desktop appears, after about 3 seconds the whole
screen blinks, as in turns black for no more than a second, then comes back
on and finishes loading.
I noticed that it always does this before it finished loading the items in
the taskbar by the clock. And it does NOT do it when I startup ...

Windows Sounds resets itself
I am using Vista Business. Every time I restart my windows sounds reset
themselves. I have numerous custom profiles, and no matter which one I use,
it resets itself to the default and just about everything I do makes a sound.
I change it, and the next time I start up or log off or log on (lost

BIG SLEEP MODE PROBLEM
Hi
As I can see on the vista community discussing groups site “Win-Vista†has A
big sleeping problem but I wasn’t able to find a solution for my brand new PC.
My OS is Vista Business 32 bits.

How to disable DfrgNtfs.exe?
I recently noticed that whenever my laptop is an idle mode for a prolonged
time, DfrgNtfs.exe comes in. I understand that this Vista’s native Disk
Defragmenter.
Since I am using Raxco’s Disk Defragmentation Utility, which seems to do a
far better (and faster) job then the native Defragmenter, I would like to
turn DfrgNtfs.exe off so that it no longer runs when the system is idle.

Display goes blank after a few hours.
My monitor display goes blank after a few hours or so despite the fact that
the computer is still in use. Along with that, the PC will not be able to
detect the keyboard as well. The cpu and fan is still running but i can't
seem put the display back up. The only solution was to manually restart the
computer. I have updated every driver and the BIOS but nothing seems to work.

sleep mode problem
When I force the system to go into sleep mode, no matter if I log out before,
when I wake it up it freeze. When I move my mouse the pointer doesn't move,
but it changes position on the screen after a while. I can't run any program,
system slowes down, like it didn't worked at all. I can't even turn the
system off properly. After performing a hard reset the system comes back to
normal.

How to keep windows size and position?
Everytime I open Control Panel window, for example, I resize and
position it to fit my needs, but after machine re-start, it is back to
the size and position Windows picks. How do I keep it positioned and
sized the way i want? i don't want Windows to decide. There must be some

Adaptec AUA 1422 vista drivers
Which drivers did Adaptec include for Vista for their AUA 1422 Cardbus
unit? The files for XP (back in 2004) were:
adptusb2.inf
aehcd.sys
aucbcfg.sys
AUCBHLPR.VXD
ausb2hub.sys
ausbccgp.sys
ausbd.sys
Would these work in Vista? If not, could somebody make available to me
the appropriate Vista files? This Adaptec unit is EOL and is not further
supported....

including Aero user experience. Maybe dmex is right. Most application
