vista text appearing basic in certain programs..
Hey,
i consider myself to be quite computer savvy but i just cant fix this issue.
in the last week text in programs such as itunes and photoshop has been
appearing in bold and looking very basic looking, look at this link for an
example:

Delay After Login
Hi there.
I,ve been using vista ultimate(64bit) for a few months now without any major
issues apart from one very annoying problem.
From the moment I switch my pc on to reaching past the desktop welcome
screen it loads in lovely and fast but after that the hard drive almost
appears to stop running for 20-40 seconds before finaly sprining back into
life.

Spell checker only lets me check in French, not English
I have spent many hours trying to get my MS Mail spell checker to check in
English. I have gone through the E-mail, spell checker and the only
languages it will let me use are French (Canadian) and French (French). I am
using MS Works and will not be using MS Office. Strangely, the program does
check my spelling in French..
HELP!

Microsoft PLEASE respond this is driving me mad!!!
I have re-installed Windows Vista Home Premium now about 6 times trying to

Opening Links in Email
Windows mail In Vista has stopped going to websites when I clicked on the
links in emails. It was working just fine until yesterday. I have not made
any changes, installed any programs or upgraded anything. Help for Windows
Mail has, so far, been unhelpful. Does anyone know where the setting is

Vista Multithreading, lack thereof ???
I have a Dell Latitude D820 DuoCore Celeron laptop
I have install 32 Bit Vista Ultimate (not 64 Bit)

Problems at Start using Vista
Hello, I have been using vista for about 6 to 8 weeks now. The last 3 days
I've had trouble at startup. It is taking a long time and don't see my
desktop right away. I see the peronal photo I have on my desktop for a few
seconds then the screen goes white. It does this for long time. Whats weird
is that the AOL spyzapper comes up and trys to detect while the screen is

Links not opening browser
Right now if I click on a link that should lead to an opening browser it does

"Explorer Has Stopped Working" Problem (again)
When I attempt to start a Slideshow of photos using the Explorer toolbar, the
first picture launches and then, after about two seconds, closes with the
message "Explorer has stopped working".
I then get the usual series of messages that "Windows is looking for a

Backup/Restore using Vista Backup not recognising 2nd SATA drive
When I first tried to backup to a 2nd SATA disk, Windows Vista backup would
not detect the drive. However after formating it I could backup to that drive
and used the Backup Files option. After my primary hard drive crashed I

Can't remove file from My Computer
Hi,
I installed some Nokia software on my PC. It never worked on Vista, so I
uninstalled it. There's nothing remaining of Nokia on my PC now (there's
nothing in program files or anywhere else). However, when I click on my
computer that Nokia Phone Browser thing (the link to the image of the problem
is shown below) still appears. I don't know how to remove it.

SearchIndexer.exe Running at 100% CPU
Hi all, (this one I feel is for microsoft directly)
I recently had a problem where outlook2007 crashed on searching for an email
by sender name.
Everytime I now start outlook, SearchIndexer.exe runs as 100% killing my pc

3 x 4 box on desktop
I have a 3 x 4 box on my desktop that will not go away. It says it is
opening PluginInstall.exe that it downloaded from microsoft.com. Mozzila
wants to know what to do with it. Save it to disk is checked off but it does
not allow you to switch to the other option which is to save it somewhere
else. The cancel button does not work and I can't X out of it. Under task

vista won't wake up
we have had our Gateway laptop for about 3-4 months now, and for almost the
entire time we have had it, when we close the screen and let it sit for a
little bit of time, it will just freeze and won't resume so we have to hold
the power button until it turns off and then turn it back on. I know this is
not good for the comp. is there anything that I can do???...

Back Up Files
I followed the "directions" to create a Back Up File - but after many tries
I have to give up up unless I can please get some help! I tried to put the
back-up on the Recovery D but it tells me there is no free disk space. How
can there be no free space when I have never created a Back Up? Then I tried

System Restore Just Doesn't work
Hi there,
I appologise on the post regarding System Restore, and have read all the
other posts without anything seeming relevant. I also posted it in the
security section by mistake. I see others have posted here.

Vista no longer a nightmare
Following a day spent playing around with the installation and taking the
advice of Rick Rogers, I now have a working VM of Vista. Albeit I opened
Programs and Features and turned all the features off. With allocated
memory at 2Gb the desktop behaves reasonalby well and shows the rotating
disc less often. I suspect that on a Core 2 Duo machine with 2Gb it would
hardly appear.

Deleting a file when activex is damaged

Vista/XP Dual Boot - Keep Vista Restore Pts w/o Boot Mngt Program
I have a dual boot of XP Home & Vista Business on a 80G HD and hide the Vista
partition from XP using PartitionMagic. I have swapped booting between both

sound device
I recently did an "anytime upgrade" from a cd that came with my Vista, hoping
that it would help me with downloading programs I have and used on my XP, it
didn't help and in the process I lost my sound device. Now I have no sound.
When I click on the sound icon, it says "you have no sound device installed"
