I was wondering where all my hard drive space had gone and went a hunting for
it. Now i am reasonably savvy with windows 98/xp etc so checked the usual
places like temp internet files etc but finally found the above directory
which contained 20 gigs of files and directories, upon further investigation

Resatore & Backups
I have tried to repair my installation. I have lost the ability to create a
restore point and I cannot make a back up. I have tried every solution
offered to me on the NG but nothing works. A re-install seems to be the
only way to me. I'm no expert on this subject but I thought it might be

ReadyBoost really boost?
Hi, I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate 2.5GB DDR RAM dual channel, and today I
bought my first ReadyBoost enabled pendrive, Apacer Handy Steno HA202 AX 4GB,
after plugged in, I used the recommended size, around 3.8GB. I'm running VPC
with 1GB RAM assigned after that as usual, but I felt more laging during
multitasking between VPC, outlook and WLM, when I typing message on my WLM,

Using Vista Home Premium with Firefox.
I am able to bring up this site: www.time.gov
But upon picking the time zone, the screen grays out and must end the
program and start over.
Never had this problem using same computer, same Firefox, but using
Windows 98.

wrong driver version
After fixing all my other problems I ran all of the latest update which went
fine. Now when I turn my computer on a little box comes up saying HD Audio
CPL at the top and wrong driver version below. What do I need to do to fix

Pointer and toolbar in Vista Premium
Hi!
This is no panic (no, really) so take your time ;-) I'm a amateur at this
but I have my fix ideas how I want my desktop to look like and function. At
this moment, with a new Dell laptop and Vista Home Premium pre-installed, I'm
just fooling around and now to my issues.
1. My pointer, a lovely white dove, is always replaced with th default one
when I start the laptop (or re-starting)....

Back up Computer to CD
Vista is requesting a disk greater than 1 GB in size when trying to do a
complete PC backup to CD. Is there a way to do this backup to CDs rather

Downloaded add-ons and Vista performance.
Seeing as I have been off the board for 2 months, you can guess that I have

IE7, JavaScript, Information Bar
I created a simple page with some simple JavaScript which I'd only run from
my own computer. But even so, the IE7 Information Bar pops up the "To help
protect you security, IE has restricted this webpage from running scripts or

System Restore
The problem is: When I make a change to my system i.e. new driver, etc I
would like to create a system restore point just in case of a malfunction.
When I try to create a restore point I get this message on my Systems
Property Window under the tab system protection Automatic Restore Point
"Configuration is disabled by group policy" and "Restore Point creation
disabled by group policy." ...

How to specify period/time between two auto restore point created
I'm using Windows Vista Business and system restore help a lot by auto
setting or creating snapshots of system to let me restore if there's any
problem.
The problem lies in the restore point are created TOO FREQUENTLY and
EXCESSIVELY, which will result in a high HDD use even i'm running other

UAC slowing down startup both enabled and disabled...
After doing a clean install of Vista Premium I noticed that something is
slowing down the startup. If I have UAC disabled my laptop will boot to the
desktop in less then a minute and I can do things like browse my computer.
However, the files in my Startup-folder and any other programs I execute
aren't started. This goes on until after 30-45 seconds, after this everything
works as normal...

Simple scheduled task won't run - no matter what !
Hello everyone,
I've got a problem that has me absolutely stumped ! Can you help ?
I have created a task in Vista's task scheduler to run once a week. All the

backup problems with Vista
Hi -
After backing up several times the default backup drive (Recovery Drive D:)
became full, so I deleted everything in D: except the Source and Windows
folders. That freed up space on the drive, but now when the automatic backup
tries to run, it fails every time (I think it says it can't find the right
files).
I have no recovery disk because Vista came installed on my Dell.

I am running Vista on my PC. Whenever a site generates it's own e-mail

Back-ups
I cannot make a backup. I get the error " A shadow copy could
not be created for the following reason" Access Denied 0x80070005. I
Tried to Restore to a time when backup worked but had no restore point
from that time.
I could not create a restore point. I tried to get into the group
policy editor to make a restore point but it is not available in premium.
