Vista won't shut down
My Vista installation, which has been behaving very well, has begun a new
behavior pattern. When I click on Shut Down from the Start Menu, it does so
and then, after a few minutes it starts up again. Does anyone have any
suggestions as to what to check?...

Internet Explorer fails, after 30+ hours
I have a problem where internet explorer 7.0.6000.16473 fails after about a
day and a half, and also takes out Windows Mail 6.0.6000.16386. It appears
as if I have lost my internet connection. However ping, and tracert both
work. IE 7 can not connect, even when I can ping the website!

Icons partially or entirely behind solid black patch
Icons on the desktop have a square black patch on the lower left corner,
and sometimes all icons in folders become little black squares.

Blacked out Desktop Icons
After installing automatic updates after rebooting I found half my desktop
icons were just black squares, after testing I discovered that KB 936825 was
causing the problem has any one had the same problem or knows of an answer....

Defragmentation make me lose space on my disk.
Hey, im new here hope you can help me im really lost and my problem is pretty
big.
So here it is,
Each time I do a defragmentation with the Windows Vista application, I lose
3Go !!! Thats not normal.
I've tryed with another program and it works pretty well, but I can't regain
the space I lost.
My computer is a Laptop, it is brand new.

External usb drive hanging startup!
Hi,
I have a western digital 200gb usb hd which seems to hang the vista startup
for some three to four minutes if its connected. Unhooked and vista starts
well without the delay. I read somewhere that somebody put it down to
mainboard locations of usb i.e.: front or rear and the rear had more power?
My hd has its own power supply so could this still be a factor? tia for any
advice.

Cannot Read from the Source File or Disk
Using Windows Vista, when I try to copy a file from a CD to my hard drive, I
get the following error message:
"Cannot Read from the Source File or Disk"
I can copy the same file on another computer with XP.

Vista + Norton 360 = Great Performance + Security
I've noticed after my clean install of Windows Vista Home Premium and Norton
360 software that my computer is running almost 10 times better then it did
with Windows XP and McAfee.

Severe problem while using Windows Backup

is using ctrl-alt-del to shut down computer harmful?
My mom-in-law recently got a new e-machine running Vista Premium. She was

High HDD Activity after Startup
After I have logged into my account, I have my statup entries load fine.
After AVG and MSN etc have loaded, the HDD activity seems to be constant for
2-3 minutes afterwards. During this time, if I look at the Reliability and
Performance Monitor for Disk, I see loads of files randomly on there, like
system files, some program files like Office and the odd document I have. The

Problem with line 567
Recently I bought Toshiba notebook, Satellite L30-10X with 1GB RAM memory,
and processor that runs on 1.8 GHz, with installed Vista Basic.

Explorer restarts every 5 seconds
I bought a Toshiba laptop last month. It has Vista Hom Preium on it and we've
installed Office 2007 Student. Last week it suddenly started restarting
explorer repeatedly. A message startes to fade in on the bottom left of the

SHLWAPI.dll, high CPU
I've been trying to nail down a high CPU usage problem by exploreer.exe's
SHLWAPI.dll for weeks, but haven't succeeded. Sometimes I can Suspend in

Vista working very slow
Dear Friends,
I had purchase one Lenovo Y500 just 20 days ago which having windows vista
home basic with it, while purchasing it i had upgreaded Ram from 512MB to 1
GB and after it all my dreams and courage has gone in to vein; when I start
to use it as it's working too much slow, even for an application like in

Vista is very very slow
Hello All
I hope someone can help me because I don't know quite what to try.
I am running Vista Ultimate 64. Here are a few details of my system, I
can run siSoft Sandra and provide any more that might be needed. It's a
Pentium D 3 gHz machine dual core, dual boot (XP media centre edition is

windows experience index graphics is wrong
Hi, my WEI rating is 1.0, because WEI is incorrectly identifying my graphics
card as "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" and only running DirectX8
compatiable with a driver version 6.0.6000.16386.
I actually have a Nvidia 8800GTX running latest drivers (7.15.11.5818)
Of course my card is more than enough for vista and runs Aero, games etc
nicely.

running out of memory??
i have vista home premeium and it is very fast and runs great. my problem is
after a while i cant do anything. for example. i usually have about 4 IE
windows open and photoshop or dreamweaver open, i am a web designer. and

Errors after Vista restore
After restoring a back of my hard disk from an image made with the Vista
Backup and Restore Center, I seem to have an error every time I boot into
Vista.
I get - MS DTCconsole program has stopped working.
Has anyone any idea how to fix the problem.
