Size of programs and background picture
I turned on my computer one day and everything is smaller than it used to be.
My background picture is half the size,
Internet Explorer when opened up, the actual webpage covers only half the
width of the screen now,
Outlook only opens up to cover about half the screen as well.
I can't figure out what caused this or how to correct it.

CPU consumption
Hi,
I am running Vista Home Basic on a new computer. I have been having trouble
with my computer running 'hard'. I ran Process Explorer and seem to have two
things taking most of my CPU. One is called dispatch interrupt (two) and the
other the Shell Lightweight Library. I am not a very well versed in
computers, but I do know when my computer is straining.

Can't Access Disk Management
I am having problems accessing my hard drive in order to create partitions
with Vista's Disk Management. I have a brand new computer with Vista Home
Premium pre-installed. When I click on "Disk Management" (below "Storage")
within "Computer Management" nothing happens except that I get a message at
the bottom of the screen: "Connecting to Virtual Disk server." What am I

task manager
i recently downloaded a program that was similar to the task manager actually
it looked like it was even better. Anyway when it asked me if I wanted to it
the default tak manager I checked ok. Now I have no task manager. the program

Need a backup
I recently purchased an HP Dv 6000 with windows Vista Home Premium. I need
to perform a full system backup to a DVD. When I try to perform the windows
backup on the system the error messages says I do not have enough room on
the DVD. Is there a process where I can use the windows backup to more than
one DVD or compress it? Or do I need different software or an external Hard

Outlook 2003 Very Slow
Hi,
I have Outlook 2003 with Vista Home Premium (both in French) on laptop Dual
core, 2GB memory. Since few days, Outlook is very slow for switching from an
email to another (30 sec to 1 min). After a moment, it becomes normal but I
don't know why. When I look in task manager, outlook uses 50% of processor.
Someone can help me ?

General performance issues
Hi there,
I am using Vista since it was released and never got into whats the big
thing that hits my performance like hell.
Whatever I do, I do not get rid of some evil stuttering, mainly caused by
hard disk activity. When playing games even the less demanding ones stutter
and do not "feel smooth". But not at a frame rate point, it could be smooth

Computer won't Sleep
My PC has stopped going into Sleep properly - it worked fine till a few days
ago, and I've not added any new hardware or left any removable devices
plugged in, etc.
It used to go totally silent, and the power light would blink slowly. It

Network performance
Anyone experiencing slow network performance when copying to server or
another pc in the network?
We have a large image library (photos). Every time we download from our
camera, we copy all files from our local Vista pc to 2 different locations:
backup folder on our Win2K Adv server and another workstation running Win2k,
both SP4.

Windows Vista?
Asking again, anyone know about "blank screen"? That is what it is called
when it is in my tray. But the problem is there are times when it is totally
blank, white from top to bottom and side to side, no tray, no nothing and I
have to shut down manually. Now I even have a shortcut on my desk top that

Problems with keyboard and icons on desktop
I have Onecare Adaware and Spybot. I have ran all several times. When I
click on an Icon on the desktop ALL icons highlight. Numbers can not be used

How do I get "run" back?
So I was trying to make a shortcut to "Run" in the Start Menu, and I guess
that it moved the file rather than created a shortcut to it. As soon as I hit
Start -> Run, it said that something was missing and asked me to remove the
file. Obviously, thinking I had done something wrong, I hit yes. I tried

Disk Cleanup not deleting files
Whatever type of files I select to be deleted they are never actually
deleted. When Disk Cleanup says it's deleting the files, my hard drive is not
running and when I rerun the program to check, the files I selected are all
still there. So basically it's not doing anything.
Has anyone had this problem before? Any help would be much appreciated.

Backup Advice
I have customized my system setup a little & I'm looking for some advice on

Windows Calendar problem
Hi there,
This is a bit of a silly problem but it's driving me nuts.
When I'm in Windows Vista calendar I might have a reacuring appointment that
says maybe 'Take kids to school'.
I'm a bit daft but I do like to mark stuff as done, so say I 'took the kids

Cannot uninstall ANYTHING!
I don't have a clue what happened. Yesterday I was able to uninstall any
program, today I can't. I know how to uninstall but it is just not letting
me! The only programs I can uninstall are ones that I have installed today.
