Volume shadow copy failure causes total re-install
After an initial install of about half of the system and
reinstating most of the data, "volume shadow copy" failed
causing explorer and InCD to fail. The system could not shut
down either- I had to manually interrupt power, then restart
from cold, and let the RAID verify and copy any corrupted
files (which was about half of the OS, or 65,535 files).
After that none of the CD/DVD dri...

System Restore : Can't Turn It Off!!
Vista is making automatic System Restore points on both of my 2 drives: C
(system) & Z (Data drive), even though I have specifically TURNED OFF
(delected the tick) automatic restore points on the Data drive (System
Protection Properties dialog box|automatic restore points).
Is this a known bug?
How can I make Vista REALLY stop making automatic restore points on the Z
Drive?

I also see the same problem listening to music with WMP for 2-3 hrs.

Vista is very slow
My family recently got a few new computers. On every one, exept mine, vista
runs smooth. This is strange since my PC is pretty high end.
Whenever I try to open a window it takes rather long time (10 seconds) and
it seems that everything else runs like that too.
Specs:
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6600 @ 2.40GHz
Memory: (RAM) 2.00 GB

Cannot Delete A File
I am having trouble deleting a file. It is not telling me that i cannot
delete, it just won't delete. The recycling box comes up and says its
recyling, but it will do that for hours and will not delete it. I have moved
everything else out of the folder and tried to delete the folder, same thing.
I have tried to shred the file, and it will not shred, says please wait and

Internet 3 seconds delay for each link
Hi all, hope this is the correct spot for posting this
I've recently installed Vista on my computer and found that the Internet has
issues that I never had with XP (still have it on another partition).
the main problem is that in order to connect to a web site for the first
time (for each sessions), I have a 3 second delay... so for example,
starting up IE or FireFox to connect to my h...

Vista backup on alternating USB drives
I have 2 USB drives that I use one at a time for backup. The other one is
stored off site. When I swap them I just unplug one and plug the other into
the same cables. They both have the same name. But the Vista Ultimate backup
program must be reconfigured each month for the changed drive or the backup
will fail to start.
How can I configure the backup program to not care which drive is ...

Unresponsive Start Menu Links
I have been having problems the past couple of days with the start menu on
Windows Vista Home Premium. Certain links do not respond when you click on
them (such as the control panel, welcome center, default programs, etc.). I
thought that I had it licked today, but then when I shut the computer down
and came back to it later, the flaws were back. This OS is beginning to

Restore RDP file association
I goofed.
I overlooked a Group Policy Object that installs Remote Desktop client v5.2
(=WS2003) on all computers before I connected the first Vista computer to
the domain. So v5.2 was automagically installed on the Vista box. My fault,
of course--but a little version checking in the v5.2 MSI sure would have
been nice.
I fixed the GPO so it wouldn't do it again, and used Programs and ...

monitor "shivers", "blinks", shuts-off
The display on my monitor use to sort of shiver for no reason, then it'd
kinda blink briefly-like it was about to go blank, and now recently; the
display did just shut off, like the bulb went out. But then I just turned
the monitor off, then turned it back on and the image came back up. Is this
a virus? The monitors only about 2-3 yrs. old. Thanks for any suggestions...

Starting up my PC goes very slowly and once it's running every program I

it takes up to 10-20 minutes or it even stays like that.
