Windows activation problem
I installed windows vista and activated it online without any problems.
Yesterday I upgraded my motherboard BIOS, now vista wants me to re-activate
windows. When I try to reactivate windows I am told that this activation
number is already in use!
What can I do to reactivate vista? ...

Des Vista Aero slow down computers?
Just wondering how much Vista Aero (full effects), vista basic take up cpu
usuage and memory (main memory not Graphic card memory) and whether it slows
the computer down a bit or not....

Can I delete these files?
My User root folder is full of files that look like this:
NTUSER.DAT{058811b7-1cbf-11dc-a505-00016cef983c}.TM.blf
They are all 512kB in size and many date back months. Are they really needed
or can they be tidied up?
Vista doesn't seem to delete them, but then it doesn't seem to tidy up after
itself in common with most other apps today.
My Vista partition image size just grows ...

Outlook "compose" opens up maximized
Eachtime I "compose" in Outlook, the window is maximized,and I have to resize
it each time. It used to remember the size I left it at. When I would
resize it and close it, and close out of Outlook, and compose again, it is
back to mazimized....

Pimary Video Issue
I have a problem that makes me feel like a real noob. In Vista, my computer
defaulted to using my onboard video, not my card. The problem is that I can't
change the default video item. The card is combatible with vista. (leadtek
PX8500 GT TDH) This brings my base score to 1.0. Ouch. Please assist....

Help and Support Images Not Loading
Not sure why. I did that registry fix that someone helped me with here, but
the images, pics do not load in the help and support app. They are red x'd,
like a web page. I AM online. :D

Connection Problem
I have a new Acer 5610 running vista premium. I replaced a win98se desktop
on my network with this laptop. Also have a winXP desktop on this wired
network. I have dsl and am running a westell 6100 with built in router and a
hawking 4-port switch. My problem is the acer will not stay connected to
internet and when problem occcurs it also stops connection of the xp
computer.

Missing drive info
When I open the computer icon on my desktop a blank page shows up.
Previously I saw icons for my c & d drives and my cd burner. Now I get
nothing but a blank page. Nothing has been changed and no new programs
added. Everything else is working fine.
In windows explorer if I go down to the computer icon and open it I get the
same blank page.
Does anyone know what is causing this and...

Question about RAM, or is RAM the problem?
hi guys, i was trying to upgrade my RAM situation and recently purchased and
installed 1024MB (now i have 1982MB) but i am not really noticing a
difference. Should i have purchased a different kind of RAM? or is it that
Vista is just plain slow? i glanced down the page and noticed alot of
complaints in that dept... help me......

How bloated is Windows Vista ?
On my old p.c. (WinXP) I had 10 Gig stored on my 30 Gig machine. Now that I
have a new p.c. (Vista Home Premium), it appears I'm using 50 Gig out of 250
Gig capacity.
I need to know what major pieces make up the 50 Gig that I'm using. (This
is "storage" -- NOT memory.
Can anyone help me find the source of getting this info from my machine?

temp files
How can I delete temp files,if I look under windows temp files folder I have
3.75mb of temp files.Disk cleanup dose nothing to delete these files.Is it

3D Flip not working
I have just bought an ACER 9423 laptop running vista home preium, I have used
the 3D flip a couple of times but now it seems to have disappeared and I

Blue Screen
I bought this new Dell, Windows Vista system in April and haven't had much
time to play with it yet. My problem is that I get a recurring Blue Screen
fairly often. I get it most often when I am trying to do things with my
photos. The only software that I have installed on the system outside the
Dell installed Software is Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0 for Vista.

Deleting files - calculating time remaining?
I'm trying to delete a file but get a status box that says Recycling -
calculating remaining time. The message box stays on screen forever and the
file is never deleted. I tried deleting the folder in which the file resides
- same thing. I can't even move the file or foler to the desktop or anywhere

RUNAS and Backup
Every time I try and run Vista Home Premium Backup, I get the following
error:-
"The RUNAS command is not supported. You must run this program as the

Backup Failure
I am using Windows Vista Home Premium. When I try to backup and write my
files out to DVD. I receive this message: "An error occurred following

uninstall not working
i want to uninstall a program start/control panel/ uninstall it shows all my
program and says to click uninstll or repair but the button to uninstall/
repair insant there?

Windows Explorer Sucks
Ok...I have vista home premium and don't really care for it.
Especially windows explorer. I'm not a novice so I don't need explorer
to change the columns depending on the content of the folder. I tried
the "apply to folders" option but that doesn't apply the settings to
all the folders. I also want a delete button on the toolbar and cannot

Restart and Turn Off aren't working..
I bought my Computer last week, ASUS F3JP-AP098E/T5600/2GB/160GB/8SL/ with

Unable to detect PC Backup DVD
Hello guys,
I am using Vista Ultimate. I when I use entire PC restore, it detects
backups in my HDD (D:), and I can resotre from it. But it doesn't detects any
of my backup DVDs, one 03-11 DVD and two 05-28 DVDs. What should I do? I want
to recover from backup 05-28 and I didn't do that on my HDD. I am pretty
screwed right now.
