Task Scheduler
Is anyone else having a problem was task scheduler waking up from sleep
and shutting down a couple of minutes later, without completing the
scheduled task. If I reschedule the task and leave the PC powered on,
the task runs fine.
What's annoying is it was working and have no idea what happened to make
it stop....

Windows (Vista) Start Up Error Messge
Upon starting up my computer, I sometimes (not always) get a message stating
a failure for Windows start up normally. Two options are given: 1) to let
Windows try to find and fix the problem (recommended) or 2) let Windows go
ahead and start up. Option 1 takes a long time and has not permanently fixed

Graphics card hotter in Vista than XP
I recently got a new graphics card (Nvidia 8800gts) and noticed in Vista its
about 5-6c hotter than XP. I understand its working in 3d mode all the time
in Vista due to Aero, but even when I switch to basic theme the temps dont
change. In Vista the idle temps are around 63-64c while in XP its around
58-59. Anything I can do in Vista, disable features, services or whatever to

Microsoft Windows Mail 6.0
The e-mails I receive say phish on most of them when I know it is not a
phishing e-mail. I went to tools to shut the phish off but the boxs were
unchecked already. Do I need to check them or what. Does anyone know. Or is
there some thing else I have to do. I have windows Vista microsoft mail 6.0.

Download & Install Active X Control
I have Windows Vista Ultimate (64-bit) installed on my computer. When I
tried to send an attachment file from my Lycos.com Internet E-Mail, I got a
message stating that I'm required to download the Active X control first in
order to send e-mail with attachment files.
I would appreciate it if anyone knows how to download and install Active X
control. I have no idea how to do that.

Red Crypto Services Error appearing every 5-10 mins in Event Viewer
I've made sure the service is started and automatic. This all started when
I had a problem with the partition directly after my Vista one and had to
format it. It wasn't however, a system volume, but rather just a backup
volume.
Can't find any info that helps find a solution.

System Restore
I think it should show more than 5 days for restore points. Not everybody is
at the computer all the time and some issues are not considered soon enough
and when problems present themselves it is too late to restore to an
estimated date to solve the problems. I hope Microsoft reconsiders this issue...

Extending partitions
I have 2 hard drives each with 2 partitions. I would like to combine the
partitions on each drive. to give no partitions on the drives. When I go to
disk management and right click on any of the partitions the option to extend
is greyed out. How can I get the option to extend the partitions to be
accessible.

Vista 32 - Page file size on systems with lots of RAM
This may be a silly question, but here goes:
The normal advice used for the minimum Page File size is that it should
always be larger than the amount of RAM installed - but I wondered if this
still made sense when you have a lot of RAM installed. I'm seeing a lot of
posts from people with 3GB or 4GB of RAM, so it seems to be a pertinent issue.

Removing System Tray icons!
Does anybody know where I should go/edit in order to remove undesirable
system tray icons (those beside the clock)? Probably some registry
entries or .ini files? How about Group Policies? Any tips? I wouldn't

Hibernation Files
Is there anyway to get rid of the "hiberfil.sys" files. I don't use the
hibernation feature. I "1Opened a Command prompt and at the command prompt I
typed: "powercfg -H off" but the "hiberfil.sys is still there. That command
used to work in the RC1 version, however it doesn;t seem to work in the
released version.

System crash
I just spent most of the day restoring my system, it would lock at
bootup with an hourglass, (what is that little spinning icon called
anyway), one strange thing is my Performance score went up to a 3.4
from a 3.3. The only change is I deleted Norton, which I suspect but
cannot prove was the cause of the crash. System is less than a month
old.

not able to create a restore point.
Hello there....i have a small problem...hoping someone knows more then i do :-)
been trying to create a restore point but after about 15 min waiting a
windows says: unable to create a shadow copy, system timed out (0X81000101).
i've then did the partial system restore and tried again to create the
restore point. same message, same problem.
Any suggestions?

Laptop won't start up
I have only had my laptop 3 months which came with Vista preloaded. I am not
having issues where the laptop won't power up and it goes off to try and

I tried to fix this problem and ran taskmanager after start up and typed in
explorer in new task it works, but temporarily. After reboot or restart I
have to type in explorer again and again. Only my documents comes up after
