Actual RAM usage of applications
Just a quickie, in Task Manager I can get a list of all the running
processes, but could someone please tell me which column I need to show to
be able to see how much RAM each app is using?
There are several columns that show memory stuff, but they are all different
values. No idea which one will show just RAM usage.

New windows opens at small (default) size
How can I set a new window to always open full screen? Example, when I
open a page it is where I've set it; full screen. If I click a link within
that page, the new window opens at the default small size.

Progress slow on vista upgrade.
Received a technewsletter on Vista which definitely
throws a hurle in the path of upgrade. The newsletter stated
that Vista keep records of all sites visited, applications
used, and personal information exchanged (Gulp). That last
one I definitely do not like at all.
Does anyone know why it is a necessary feature for this to
be done?
And, does anyone know how to purge/erase thes...

Restore Files from Vista x86 backup issues
I replaced my motherboard and cannot restore critical files.
The backup was done using Vista Ultimate to a separate hard drive.
I reinstalled the OS (Clean) to my main hard drive, but when using the
"advance restore" feature I get an error that restore is unsuccessful.
I know the files are there (91GB).
How can I get them back without a full restore?
The error code is: 0x8100001A ...

No automatic restore points in Vista Home Premium
Hello,
I've noticed that my Vista OS is not creating automatic daily restore
points. The only time they are created is if software is installed or
uninstalled, and that isn't always a given. They also will disappear
ocassionally for no reason, as my hard drive still has plenty of space. I
checked and the task manager service is running but I could find no "system
restore" service. ...

Ultimate vs. Nero: Don't initialize!
After installing NERO 7.9.6.0 (at least that's when I think it all
started) into my Vista Ultimate in my laptop (Toshiba Satellite A200),
every time I power on, Vista stops in the "Welcome" screen and doesn't
go further. I have to power off and start all over again. Sometimes on
the second try things are OK, other times I have to boot at least 3 or 4
times until the system engages. Any tips of wh...

Indexing - not indexing!
A short time after I upgraded my XP Pro to Vista Business, I noted how
damned slow the machine was and turned off Indexing which helped the speed
enormously. Since that time I have decided (this is months later) to turn
indexing back on, which I did. However, though I clicked on the "set to
default" in Indexing options and then told it to rebuild the index AND left
the machine without an...

Bars on Screen
I just got a Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop with Vista Home Basic on it, not even
a week ago and so far this has happened about 3 times. I get these bars on my
screen and the computer freezes, and then I'm forced to turn the power off to
get it to do anything. This has happened when I closed a program, restarted
the computer, and when I was in the middle of using a program. I have no idea

Image backup
Hi All.
I hate it when I am stupid.... but I have this problem:
I am trying to do a complete PC backup (image backup) with Vista. I have 3
drives C, D, E (dvd) and F. I have done all my backups to drive F before, but
now Vista wants to include drive F in the backup set, so I have to pick D as
the destination.
Thing is, I want to store the backup on F and somehow Vista thinks that

I have just got a new Vista Home Premium (living room) pc - a Philips

a user of AOL Broadband, so I installed AOL 9.0VR using the icon in 'welcome

Indexing that doesnt index - 2 solves!
The easy way - check your power profile. Check under advanced. You may have
it on max but under there, somewhere may be max power SAVING. I found this
on mine and changed it to High Performance and off went the rebuild
properly!!
The hard way - the above doesn't work for some. You do a repair install and
that fixes that DEFINITELY.
