Installing vista ultimate on a clean drive and cloning vista to 2n
Hello,
I came across something I've never seen in MS products (since windows 2.0).
When I installed my XP-pro upgrade I had the option to install it on a clean
HDD. The XP installation just asked me to insert my copy of 2000/98/95, same
thing when I upgraded to 2000.
A brief history:
I bought my vista ultimate upgrade the day after MS released it. Because of
hardware limitations I ...

I can eventually see the desktop after about 5 minutes of waiting, but will
continue to experience VERY slow response...

Remove XP from a dual boot with Vista Ultimate
I recently built a new PC with a Asus P5N-E SLI MOBO and have been running it
with XP Pro for the last few months on my PATA Primary Master Drive.
I just got my copy of Vista Ultimate and have decided to run that on an SATA

of 550gig (give or take)
Everything seems to be working fine. On boot I get the Vista Boo...

vista partitions
I have windows vista home premium on an Acer Aspire 5610Z. The hard drive
shows as already having two partitions (local disk D,data) and local disc C,
which contains the Vista operating system and all programs. Is this normal
for Vista? Disk D is virtually empty of data and has 51 GB. What is it for?
Could I put another operating system on Disk D?

Dual Boot XP Pro + Vista 64
Hi,
I installed XP after Vista to achieve dual boot.
On boot up I'm now offered XP or Vista - OK :)
I have only one physical drive... 400Gig
Vista is on drive C:
XP is on drive E:
I can see both drives which ever OS I'm in.
Is this safe ?
Would it be best to hide whichever OS I'm not using ?
I'm a little concerned that installs might write to C: instead of E: and
cause corrupt...

Error 0x80040154
I get the above error when trying to run a cockpit voice control program for
Flight Simulator X. It has something to do with a .DLL that is not
registered. I am not sure that the KB articles I am looking at apply to
Vista (Ultimate).
I have downloaded the program (Regsv32a) to register the .DLL but I don't
know which .DLL to re-register.
How do I find out? Maybe the event viewer?...

Disabling unnecessary services and processes

I see that there are a lot of tasks, services, and processes that are
running. I'm sure that I don't need all of them, and would like to disable
the unnecessary ones to save processing power.
Is there a way to do this safely?
Ideally, is there an application that presents to the user a list of yes/no
questions that looks something like this:
