Switch from IDE Controller to RAID Controller after Vista Install?
Hi All.
I was having trouble getting Vista to load, and trying different things, I
switch the controller in the Bios from RAID to IDE, even though I want to set
my two drives up as a RAID 1. Once I did this and popped out 2GB of the 4GB
of RAM I had in the system, the install went fine.
I have both of my 500GB Seagate drives now installed, one with Vista and the
other as a separate ...

Installtion Japanese lanuage in Vista Home Premium
I have searched the knowledge base and find only geek-speak and long files to
copy to enable a second language (Japanese) on my new English vista system.
This was all easy to do in XP under languages...What is PE, MUI...
Is there just a simple way to get the XP-type Japanese language flexibility
so I can do my adult education homework?...

System shutdown during clean install of Vista Ultimate
I am attempting a clean install of Vista Ultimate 32x onto a new system.
After the first reboot while completing installation the system goes into
sleep mode, or either shuts down. When I reboot Vista starts and tells me
that there was an unexpected error and that I need to restart the
installation.

App blocked by UAC
hi, we developed an application and want it to run on Vista, but crashes
whenever UAC is on.

Activation issues
Hi,
I recently purchased a new Desktop PC with Vista home premium pre-installed.
During set-up I believe that I may have skipped the activation process. I
have since been receiving prompts to activate my copy of Vista. I read,
re-read, then checked, then double checked the license key off the OEM
sticker on the back of the machine.

Vista Reactivation?
A message popped up telling me there was a hardware change and i had to
reactivate the product key. When i tried to reactivate, a message came up
telling me the product key was already in use and i needed to purchase
another one.
I had made no hardware changes, nor did i install any new programs that can
be counted as hardware changes.

Virtual Memory
I can not change my virtual memory size to custom. I keep getting the error
message "Enter a numerical value for the initial page file size". I have
initial page size values from 16 MB to 4000 MB and I get the same error

Vista to Vista + XP without Vista DVD
Basically, at my workplace the laptop (with Vista pre-installed) was bought
in another city (Hong Kong), and while Vista is fine it's unfortunately not
compatible with some of our hardwares, so we want to install XP on it as
well.
I've already resized the partition, the problem is that the Vista DVD is
apparently still in Hong Kong, and nobody basically has any idea where it
is...

Removing critical update downloads from manager
Thanks in advance for your help!
I purchased a new HP laptop yesterday with Vista preinstalled… I went
through the setup process and downloaded all of the “critical†updates as
flagged by the manager… One of those was the NVIDIA graphics driver package
(uses GEFORCE 5150)… My Vista is setup to run in 32-bit mode… Apparently, one
of the graphics drivers was the 64-bit version...

Installing Vista Ultimate Horror Story
After determining that my computer is compatible for the Vista Upgrade I

Box around desktop icons - how to remove?
I'm running Vista Business (32 bit) and have faint white outlines around all
of the desktop icons. This is always the case and has persisted through a
few display driver upgrades. I'm not referring to when an icon is selected
or the mouse pointer hovers over it. The outlines are there on all icons
all the time. I have an Nvidia 6600 GT. I've tried resizing the icons, but

I recently brought a freeview program for my laptop (Dell Inspiron 9400
vista) but when i try to run it once it has been installed, an error message
appears, reading: AVCapture.exe- The application failed to initialize
properly (0xc0000022) Click OK to terminate the program. I would be grateful

2 hard drives. 2 OS's
One has xp pro and the other has Vista home premium. I want to be able to
have the option of using both hard drive's at the same time. As it is now, I
swap the hard drive in that I want to use and then swap it out for when i
need to go back to XP. Is there a way I can leave them both plugged in and
have an option on reboot to chose what OS I want?

I experience major problems with getting a AC 97 system up and running under
Vista.

Cannot Install MSN on Vista
I initially got the message "Error creating process<msvc.exe/Q:A>. Reason:
Access is denied." while trying to install MSN 9.5 in Vista. I turned off
TrendMicro PC-cillin and re-tried the installation and got the message;
"Error registering the OCX C:\Program Files\MSN\MsnInstaller\msnsign.dll"

Access File Mistakenly typed as a Access Shortcut
I have an access file that is 585 MB that is Typed as a Microsoft Office
Access Module Shortcut (.mad). Access 2003 will not open the file. How can
I change the typing to be the file and not a shortcut? I am on Vista Pro.

Allow Programs For Startup?
Vista is blocking to of my programs at in the Startup folder, there is
supposed to be a setting in Defender to tell it these programs are okay.
How can I add them if they are not already listed there?

EFI Implementation on Vista
Could it be possible to natively install Windows Vista or Windows code name
Longhorn on Intel-based Mac if it implements EFI? I found some article that

I am attempting to install a retail copy of vista on a Dell 460C/2GB RAM.
I ran the Vista Upgrade Advisorand it said my computer was good-to-go.
I get as far as "Installing Windows..." and get the message "That's all the
