Files and Setting Transfer Problem
Hi Guys:
I purchased a new HP computer set up with Vista Home Premium, my problem is
trying to transfer the files and setting from the old laptop (Fujitsu), which
is running XP Pro to this new computer.
First I tried the Belkin transfer cable assembly with associated software
and was not able to get it to work. Then I used the back up to CDs option

Is there a Microsoft 'recommended' approach to swap BOOT disk on VISTA?
Should be simple enough. I bought a new PC with a SATA boot drive and
a second SATA data holding drive (two drives). I simply want to swap
the boot drive (first drive) for a higher capacity drive. The new
drive is SATA also.
I can't find any specific Microsoft sanctioned approach to do this
under VISTA PREMIUM, and lots of fragments of discussions for folks

Hi all,
I am looking for the list of drivers that come on the
oem cd for Vista Home Premium that are 64 bit
compatible. Is such a thing out there?

PHONE REACTIVATION WHY
If i activated the first install of windows vista over the internet why
when i av'e to install vista again, i av'e to use the phone service to call
in for activation on the reinstall.
And av'e been reading these posts that when people install drivers for
hardware or software, they av'e to reactivate they copy of vista again WHY.
So if somebody upgrades they hardware they could reactivat...

Yet another "activation" issue
I have a client that recently bought a Dell XPS tower with Windows Vista
Ultimate pre-installed by Dell. Vista was already activated and stayed that
way for about a week. Yesterday he noticed that he suddenly had "27 days
left to activate". He tried to activate over the Internet and it wouldn't
work. I tried to help him with the whole phone activation procedure and it

Install Business version with Ultimate version dvd
Hello,
I upgraded my pc and bought Windows Vista ultimate 64bit, and i would
like to install Windows vista Business 64bit.
How can i do it ?
I took ultimate because it was the only version i could find (in my
area anyway) that had a 64bit version in the box.
But i don't want the media center, the high definition, and all the
multimedia stuff. All of these ultimate "extras" are of no use whatso...

vista install problem
Hi Guys, heres the rig:
amd 4200+
asus a8nsli
2gb mushkin ddr400
7950gt
36gb raptor sata2
2* 80gb hitachi's sata2
120gb seagate pata
I got the vista home premium upgrade to go over xp pro.
All worked fine,so i ordered the 64 bit vista disk and had to do a clean
install.

Shared Printer
I have vista on a new Sony laptop, and windows XP Pro on my desktop, with a

691 Error Code - HELP
I am trying to set up my friends brand new out of the box Dell computer
- comes with Vista. I go through all the steps to get internet
connection, and keep getting error code 691 saying username and password
cannot be validated. I have checked over and over the correct spelling

Activation Question
Hi all
When you install vista it will ask you to type in your key.
However you don't have to do this
My question is:
What's better?
- To type my key when tey ask me to during installation?
or
- Continue without inserting my key, download all updates from MS and then
activate?

Installing Different OS Types (64-bit, 32-bit) on Different Machin
I have Vista Ultimate and it came with both the 64-bit and 32-bit versions in
the case. My PC has a 64-bit processor, so I chose to install the 64-bit
version. I still have the 32-bit version in the case and I have never used it
and probably will never use the 32-bit version.

Windows Activation Blunder
I had to reset the CMOS on my mainboard after enabling Cool and Quiet.
Windows detected a significant change and wants me to activate again in the
next 3 days. It won't let me automatically re-activate. Which is how I
ended up here.
This is a deliberate suggestion rather than posting a question asking how to
fix it.

Registry blocked by UAC
Hi, we developed an application that works fine with XP but Vista's UAC seems
to be blocking a Registry key that we generate under this path: "My

unable to burn Packade Bell Recovery Disc
After 5 unsuccessful attempts to burn a recovery disc I am turning to you

Anytime Upgrade with 64bit Vista
So, I had 32 bit Vista Home premium, but wanting to move to a 64 bit OS, I
used my schol enrollment to get the 64bit DVD of Vista Business... While it
is installed and working just fine, I really do miss the media center aspect
as I used it daily with my xbox 360.

PRoblem upgrading software for Microphone

I tried to use my headset for Skype and I could hear the test call person
but I could not be heard by the system, I tried to configure the microphone

Computer shut off during installation, errors
I was installing Vista and it was just about to finish when my computer just
