JVC Camcorder
I have a JVC GR-D72U camcorder, running Vista Home Premium. I tried using
Windows Movie Maker to download my movies to my Dell computer, but it doesn't
work. Movie Maker would run my camera, but would not transfer any files to
the computer. I am running a firewire, and have a NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE
card. Is this a driver problem, and if so, does anyone know where I can get a
driver that ...

Gadget - RSS Feed Headlines
One of the gadgets I have installed is the 'Feed Headlines' and I have it
set to display the BBC news headlines. The refresh rate on this gadget
seems to be around every 24hrs which isn't really much use and there appears
to be no way of altering this. I know that the BBC News RSS feed is updated
very frequently as I have received it via other means so the problem lies
with the gadget....

Vista isn’t Me2, it’s Win95 + 12 years
Posted by Ed Bott @ 7:32 am
In certain circles, it’s become fashionable of late to refer to Windows
Vista as Windows Me2. It’s the second-worst insult you can hurl at a
Microsoft program (the worst is to compare it to Microsoft Bob, neatly
summarized as “7th place in PC World Magazine’s list of the 25 worst

BSOD & Access Denied
Hi All
I think I have just identified why Vista keeps BSOD on me. I installed the
Vista Ultimate as a 30 day demo to a separate partition (D:\ drive). Then
installed the Vista Home Premium (purchased) to C:\. Within a week when ever
the system was not under load I'd get a BSOD..eg doing a download etc. I had
installed Norton 360 for AV etc. What I think was happening was the Norton
360 ...

Laptop: Vista or 3rd party defrag tool??
Dell laptop, Core Duo, Vista Home Premium, 120GB HD
I understand Vista is constantly defragmenting files, and
presumably doing a good job. However, on a laptop there is
rarely a time when the unit is ON but UNUSED, so presumably the
Vista defrag process for laptops is not very efficient and never
happens all at once. One might say the process is.... fragmented.

Resume from Sleep / Hibernate freezes system
System freezes when resuming from sleep or hibernation. There is no
BSOD and no entries in the logs. The easier case is hibernation, where
a Vista screen shows up saying "Resuming", but nothing happens. There
is no logon screen or desktop shown. When resetting the system and
again attempting to resume from the saved state it works. Only the
first attempt of resume fails.
For sleep the situ...

Search Items frustrations
I like my new computer with Vista, except or one thing, I cannot

bring me any results.
Can anyone recommend a file search (my own PC files, not the web)
freeware I can download, or can I copy the search files from my Win
98SE computer, and if so, which files and where do I save them on my
Vista computer?

plusses and not-plusses
Well, my Vista box seems to be improved. In general, the performance is
flying. The eye-candy works well, too. Installing the latest drivers from
Intel seem to have solved most of the issues, bar one which I discuss
somewhat further below. The beta version of the latest drivers from nVidia
look like they have fixed the issues that was having with earlier versions.

better performance. Do you think there are great difference between using 16

can view in folders some graphic file types- not others
In Vista, when I open up a directory- and I choose view icons (of any size)-
I can see icons of tif, jpeg and gif files but not wmf or cgm file types. Is
there any way to get Vista to show these?
I have other graphic programs which can show those files, but I like to be
able to quickly view a folder's collection of images as icons.
