Uninstalling Old Programs
Several programs within my Old Windows folder and on other drives are not
working in Vista, even after running the Compatibility Wizard. They do not
appear in the Uninstallation list. How can I uninstall them?...

How much RAM does Vista really take?
The task manager shows under the performance tab around 670 MB RAM
usage (on a 2gb computer), now I looked around in the processes tab,
clicked on the "show processes of all users" thingy, and looked how
much the processes take RAM. I added the usage of all the 45 processes
together, and they eat around 220 MB RAM up.
Why the big difference to the RAM Usage of the performance tab, and

Cannot Exend A Partition
I have the following partitions on my drive:
1.) 137 GB NTFS (Windows Vista)
2.) 4 GB (Unallocated)
3.) 6 GB NTFS (Windows Server 2008 Beta)
The Management Console will allow me to extend the first partition into the
unallocated space, but it will not allow me to do the same with the third
partition.
Any ideas? Thanks!

HotkeyApp has stopped working error
I had to quickly power down without going thru the normal shutdown process,
and since then, I get this error everytime my computer reboots and while it
is loading the profile/logging on. I can't tell that anything is not
functioning, nor do I understand exactly what is supposedly not working. My
hot keys seem to work...at least what I think of as "hot keys", such as if I
press the "fn"...

HP Scanning issue and photo location viewing
Hi,
In the good old days of XP I used to use the program that came with my HP
all in one to scan my documents (HP Photo Director) I would open the program
from my desktop shortcut and use it to scan directly into a folder in 'My
Pictures' When I open 'My Pictures' I get a view of all the folders without
them already being opened. Now that I have Vista I am having a few problems.

Control panel and other windows programs wont open
I'm running vista business 64 and about two or three times a week certain
programs (listed below) just won't open. Usually after a restart they will
work fine. It is a clean install-- the only program that I have installed is
adobe reader. I have all the latest windows updates as of 7/07/07, and

Get "file already exists" on trying to save a new file (after rena
I save copies of monthly bills I receive online and don't want ot retype the
entire file name each time I save, so on trying to save a pdf, for example, I
click on an existing file name (e.g. company_20070111to20070210.pdf) then in

Disk defragmenter schedule gone to never.
Any-one any ideas of how to fix this problem.?
The schedule has gone to:- Next scheduled run. Never.
Iv`e changed it to daily, weekly,different times but it just won`t start to
defrag.
Even after a manual defrag it comes up never.

Start Menu Folder Access Issues
Why is it that on occasion the fold out menus for example Documents,
Pictures, etc. function incorrectly?
Specifically, the menu folds out but you can't actually click on any of the
files. If I try the start menu simply closes, as if I had clicked on the
background rather than the file. In addition, the file is not highlighted.

Minesweeper
Hi all,
Can someone help?
This matter is not really essential, but somewhat annoying.

only us content on media centre?
i am only getting american content on media centre online media. i have
windows vista home premium. i am thinking it must be something to do with
regional settings of the laptop but i think i changed the regional settings
but still cant get media centre to show uk online media content. any help

Vists versus XP
No contest here, I have just bought 2 Laptops from Dell, I chose one to have
Vista Home Premium, and the Other to have Windows XP Home.
Both Laptops are identical in terms of hardware, Duo CPU, 2meg Ram, 80gb
HDD. All junk software on the Laptops was removed, and MS Office XP
installed on both.
The difference in performance is just amazing.

Warning Claims I Am Running Out of Space
Periodically, I receive a balloon popup message in the lower-right corner of
my screen that claims that I am low on disk space. I am sure that this is
untrue, however, because I have about 121 GB of free hard disk space.
This error started when I resized my partition to make room for another
operating system. I could probably suppress the error message, but I'd
rather fix it altogether...
