Windows Easy Transfer - migration failed
Four times now, a transfer has failed at the same point -- at the point when
the message:
Saving HKCU\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Preferences\VideoSettings...
has appeared during the process.

Norton Live Update requires Administrator status
When I try to run Norton Liveupdate I get an error message that I need to
have Admnistrator status.
This is my new notebook running Windows Vista. I am the only user and when
I set up my logon protocol I thought I was designated the Administrator.
How do I adjust my Vista setting so that it shows that I have Administrator
status and I can run Liveupdate?

Unable to delete folder
Help! When I try to delete a folder (empty) I get the following message:
"Could not find item. This is no longer located in c:/users/downloads.
Verify the item & try again"
I tried safe mode but I recieved the same message. Any help would be great

Vista & Error Code 80070643
While trying to complete updates for office 2007 (Home & Student) there are
three updates that fail each time. I have tried starting Office service
engine several times . I have also re-installed office twice. Four of the
updates took but these 3 do not install. Any help would be appreciated.

All of a sudden - I have no sound
Not sure what has happened but I have no sound. I've run all the tests
that "Help/Troubleshooting" - sound...has mentioned but still nothing. I do
have a sound card which is recognized and is working. When I test the system
as instructed, all is ok (I can produce sound out of the speakers).
No new programs installed before this problem started. I am running Vista

Vista not creating shortcuts?
Hi!
I just got C&C3 and Driver: Parallel Lines today. Have just installed Vista,
updated it all etc. but for both games no shortcuts are added to the desktop
or start menu. It's not doing it for anything I install. Anyone know why? >.<...

Icons
How do you get Windows Vista to allow icons to appear in your desktop short
cut to say.....your bank. I had all these in XP and but now I have a new PC
with Vista it does not seem to allow icons from website to appear in desktop
short cut.

Constantly asking to restart for updates to be installed
I get this message "The Computer must be restarted before updating can
continue". I restart, I get it again and again and again. I haven't the
slightest idea as to what it was I installed that caused it to do this. I am
using Vista Ultimate.
I'm annoyed by it now. I have been answering no to it for quite some time.

Blue screen when accessing a network folder or subst/mapdrive.
Hi there,
I'm getting 100% repro blue screen when i access a folder \\computer\folder
and occasionally on W:\ mapped drive.
It's usually the same folder on the \\computer that causes the crash too.
I'm also unable to log a technical support request as my product id is
invalid - i'm presuming it's because it's an OEM version too! This is very
annoying and related solely to my Toshiba...

Safely remove hardware
I am not very good with computers so I'll describe this as best as I can.
When I look at my desktop, there is a bar along the bottom. To the far left
it says START. To the far right, there are little pictures that I know are
for things like volume, norton, etc. Today I noticed one new little picture

Logging in to Work Computers from Home
My place of employment has a feature so that I can log into their computers
and check my email from at home.
It is a very simple procedure. You go to a web address and Log in.
I am not able to due this on my Vista computer. My access is denied all the
time.
But if I go to anyother computer in my house and elsewhere that is running
anything but Vista I can log in with no problems.

This version of Windows is not genuine.
Purchased Windows Vista Ultimate Upgrade beginning of March after official
launch. Have been trying to install my Logitech Pro 3000 Webcam. Was directed
to Logitech and downloaded the file. When it came to plug in and turn on
power to webcam Plug and play came and I was not able to install Driver
Software. Disabled Plug and play and tried again seemed to be okay. System

Newest windows vista updates messed with navigation pane?
After a recent vista update, I noticed that the navigation pane in certain
programs like FireFox, paint shop pro, have been altered severley. There is
only 2 items in the navigation pane now, computer and recent places. How can
I get a more complete list like there use to be before these updates? Please
suggest something other than "roll back to a previous update". And also this

Program Installation
Hi,
I am trying to install this program, but it keeps telling me that it
is not compatible with Vista. I was adviced that could be because it goes
into the Program Files (x86) folder. I was advised to install the program
into the regular Program File folder, but every time I change the destination

error printing from internet explorer
I get the following error when trying to print from IE. Each time I try the
file name is different.
I had recently done a "system restore" so am not sure if it has corrupted
some files.

Upgraded vista to home Premium
I upgraded my Toshiba Laptop P200 which had Vistsa on it to Vista home
premium it was already in the package.
Having upgraded the webcamera does not work and there are no solutions as
yet to make the camera work
I would like to uninstall the upgrade but cannot work out how to do this -
maybe I ought to put the Toshiba recovery disc back in and then reboot
Any one else found this problem...

sidebar
Hello
I find the Vista 'Sidebar' to be a pain in the bum as it occupies so much of
my desktop, but 2 of its 'gadgets' are quite useful.
I know I can detach gadgets from the sidebar, but if I then close the
sidebar all the gadgets disappear.
Can I close the sidebar but keep the most useful gadgets visible on my
desktop ?
