Vista Safety Scanner beta
Anyone know where can I get online peer-to-peer or MS help with this beta?

Monitor "out of range" when installing Vista
I've got the 32-bit Vista Ultimate edition and want to install it to a
clean, unpartitioned hard drive so I put the DVD in the drive, it allows me
to partition and format the drive, it goes through various screens and a

Rename Drive Label/Change Drive Icon
I have a HP Media Center Computer with one of those 13-in-1 digital media
card readers. Right now, my drives read G: H: I: and J: Instead, I'd like
them to say 'Compact Flash' 'Secure Digital/MMC' 'Memory Stick Pro' etc. I
would also like to change the icon to show which type of card is read by each

blue screen now when I turn on my USB/MIDI keyboard
I need some help with something that I just can't get figured out on my own
yet. I am not sure how much info to put in so please let me know if I need to
add more.
I have just upgraded from XP to Vista home premium. I have a USB/MIDI
keyboard that was working perfectly fine after the upgrade. When I turned on

Chicony Webcam on P200 vista
I have a Toshiba P200 laptop it came installed with Vista and in the bundle
was an upgrade to Vista Premium
Once it was upgraded my Chicony Webcam wil not work it says open camera but
there is no way you can open it.
It is only because of the upgrade this has happened I even downloaded the

activated won't validate say's I'm not activated.
My OEM upgrade legal copy of Vista Home Premium shows that it has been
activated, but, when I try to validate I get the window that says I must
activate first. I get this code at the bottom of the page. 0xC004C4A6.
This is my third time through this. The first validation went smoothly. Then

Live File System is not compatible with XP
The Vista Live File I create can only work on the Vista machine.
When I put the DVD disk into one of my other two XP machines I get
these results:
1. Cannot see the label of the disk (it can't see the disk at all)
2. It can see the label and my notepad inside it, but won't let me
edit it. I tried different UDF 1.5-2.01

BSOD after failed driver installation. Can only start in safe mode
I have just tried to install the official Vista printer driver from Samsung
for my Samsung ML-4500 laser printer. About halfway through, the system
crashed with a BSOD and every time I try to reboot I get a BSOD and the

Not Enough server storage is available to process this command
I cannot seem to map a network drive connected to my XP pro desktop from my
Vista Business machine. When I try and map the external Iomega drive i get
the message Not enough server storage is available to process this command

IE7 Icon on Desktop
How can I get the IE7 icon back on my desktop... not a typical shortcut, but
the one in which I can set properties, delete temp files, etc...
I believe it's the icon placed on the desktop after IE is installed.
I'm running Vista Home Premium.

Wierd Taskbar problem

My taskbar started acting weird last night after a game of Company Of Heroes

Dell Inkjet 720 "Communication not Available"
I have a Inspirion 1501 w/Vista. When I go to print I get a message that says
"Communication not Available". I have installed w/CD 2x and off website 1x. I

Cant install Java on Vista
Everytime I try to install JRV 6 on my computer I get this message..
"This instillation package could not be opened Verify that the package

AVG Anti-Virus
After updating AVG Free the previous day it displays the following
message today: "AVG update downloader has stopped working"
I un-installed AVG and re-installed it again and the same happened
again.

What is a SYSTEM or NETWORK SERVICE account?
I was looking under the Task Scheduler, and some tasks are set to run using
one of the following accounts:
1.) SYSTEM
2.) NETWORK SERVICE
3.) Authenticated Users
4.) LOCAL SERVICE
5.) Users
What are these accounts? Is it possible to login as them? Why do they
exist and what purpose do they serve?

3rd party defrag tools on laptops - a new view
On my core duo laptop, Vista defrag works quietly in the
background, which is a good/bad thing. It's good because
fragmentation never exceeds 3%. It's bad because some percentage
of system resources are absorbed by that process.
My laptop is a desktop replacement and is ON many hours a day,
including periods when I'm away from it and Vista can go to
work. The result is fine.

Backup & Restore in Vista
Can any tell me is to possible to backup specific files with Vista backup &
restore, Or can i only click on what categories Vista offers me, i.e Docs,
music, video Etc.
It is just i like to be in control of what gets backed up, and not the
Backup Software.
If this is not possible, can anybody recommed a good peice of backup
software that is compatable with Vista Buisness.
