Problem in windows vista features installation
I'm having a problem to install windows features. Everything go well up to i
select the features and click in Ok button. The installation is started, but
when finish nothing was installed. No error messages is presented.
Can anybody help me ?...

Pro Vista
I've been reading alot of disses of Vista these days (including this group)
and I was among them a couple of months ago. I admit that it took awhile for
me to actually move to Vista. I've had my share of problems, but now that I
have customized it the way i want and researched and fixed my problems (and
learned alot while doing so), I absolutely LOVE it.
Don't blame Vista if old apps do...

encryption & backups ???
hi,
installed Vista Ultimate this week but i've read that Vista's file & folder
backup does not back up folders encrypted with EFS (Encrypting File
System)... I wonder why & are there plans to change this in SP1 ???
can i safely assume that Vista's Complete PC Backup & Restore image does
successfully back up & restore EFS encrypted folders ???

I am running Vista Business Edition that connect to my wirless
router. A SMC Barricade 7004ABR router is wired to the wirless router
in my office. I added a local printer to a SMC100 port. The SMC100
port is created by SMC 7004ABR printer port monitor utility. I went

IE7 Issue - Windows Live Messenger - connection lost
Many time when I click on a link in IE7, Windows Live Messenger will log off
and The linked page will not connect. I drop my internet conection. This
happens to all my Vista machines. I am aware of others with the same problem

Strange keyboard problem, keystrokes "hangs" ..
I have no idea where to go with this problem so i try here.
The problem i have is that in Visual Studio, Management Studio and "Alt-Tab"
i have this problem that the key i press seems to repeat itself.
For example, i press enter two-three times in a query windows in Mgm Studio.
All of a sudden the cursor just jumps down 10-15 lines. And when i hit

problem with windows vista and adobe reader 8.1
Ever since I installed windows vista and adobe reader 8.1 I have had problems
opening files. It never opens up the file. Instead it says that a problem
has caused the program to stop working correctly and that windows will close
the program and notify me of a solution. Then I press the close program tab

Bubbles screensaver problem
I have loaded Vista on my Dell laptop and all works fine except the
bubbles screensaver.
Instead of the bubbles floating over the desktop it changes to a white
background with the bubbles floating around.
Is there some way I can get the desktop to show in the screensaver?
Any help appreciated.

Vista Crashes During Backup to DVD+RW
I have an HP a1740n with Vista. I've launch the Vista backup program three
times and all the times the operationg system crashes. I had to do a
restore to get back up the last time. The crash usually occurs when the
last DVD is writing.
I just restored and the system is asking for the third DVD again.

bootsect.bak
To restore Vista MBR after installing w2k one need to run bootsect.exe which
is said to reside on Vista installation DVD. My HP Pavilion computer arrived
with pre-installed Vista and with no installation DVD, just a recover
partition with no bootsect.exe.
However there is bootsect.bak on C drive (8K)
Is it a back up for bootsect.exe and can I run it for the above purpose?

Ntoskrnl.exe corrupt
Ok, I have seen this problem before, and fixed it, but never before
like this. My installation of vista will only boot if I have the media
in the dvd drive. If I remove it, it tells me that ntoskrnl.exe is
missing or corrupt... bla bla bla... now, I am not booting form the
dvd drive, I just have to have the vista dvd in the drive, it waits
for me to press a key, times out, then boots as norma...

New hardware found
Hi,
At start up, a message says that new hardware is installed and that the
drivers are not found. I didn't install any new hardware so I don't know
what the system is seeing. System manager lists the new hardware as 'unknown'.
Where should start looking to get rid this annoying message?

Sound issues with Vista
My sound was working fine. Until today..it just stopped. I have no idea as to
why that occurred.
Drivers are up to date..Device Manager says my sound card is working
properly. I go into services and Windows sound isn't running. So I try and
start it to no avail.
I'm not computer savvy, so please have patients with my lack of technical

Vista Start Menu Issues/Pin to Menu
Some of the short cut menu items on the Vista Business start menu are not
working when I use the "Pin to menu" function. For instance if I Pin the

Why is activation necessary -- it is invasive!!!
I am building a system. I am now on my third activation.
Microsoft is invasive -- period. Activation is required for instances
having nothing to do with the Vista operating system or my use under license
agreement.

Having Trouble with Media Center n Nero
Can any one help me cant seem to get media center to open? it loads but goes
to task bar and cant maximize when i scroll over it show pic of movie playing
but thats it when i click on box mouse disappears and have to hit window key
