Restore to different disk
Can one do a PC backup to one disk and restore to a different disk?
I have a PC with the following disks installed: a 320GB disk with Vista Business
installed on partition C of size 15GB and two data disks of 120GB. I want to
backup the C image onto one 120GB disk and later restore it to the other 120GB
disk.

How to boot Vista from either disk?
Have Vista installed on the second disk and would like to change the
boot order in BIOS so I can have the option of booting from the first
or second hard drive.
Two instances of XP are on the first drive and would like to be able to
access Vista if the C: Partition is formatted.
I have moved the C:\Boot\ folder, ntldr, NTDETECT to the partition and

Sharing 2 Folders on a Network
This used to be easy and a 1 click in XP. I have a folder on a laptop I
want to share with a similar one on a desktop. I intend to setup the
Synctoys to make these two folders mirror one another. Both machines are
running Vista Ultimate and are running smoothly.
However, if I select SHARE on laptop, while I can see that folder from the
Desktop, I can't access it and vice versa, sayin...

Picture Gallery
I would be so grateful if anyone can help me.
I go to attach a picture from the gallery and it takes forever to load/if at
all as they are too large. I have messed about trying to sort this out on my
own but no luck!

Control Panel open causes "Windows Explorer has stopped working"....
Hi
Each time I try to open the Control Panel a message box pops up saying
"Windows Explorer has stopped working" and then "Windows Explorer is
restarting...".
This means I can't open the Control Panel at all which is bad.
Does someone know if/what I can do to solve that problem ?

Vista saving web pages to Downloads folder
A friend with Windows Vista tells me that when she tries to save web pages,
they go into the Downloads folder, rather than the Documents folder. How
can IE in Vista be set so that saved web pages are saved to where the user
wants them to be saved?

Disk Defragmenting - please please update
Hi there,
I have just recently moved to Windows Vista Business and decided after all
my file transferring, installing and so on, that it would be a good idea to
run a defrag.
I was shocked to see that the Disk Defragmenter has actually gotten worse
from the old system and SHOWS NO PROGRESS INDICATION!

Migrating domains

We are in the throes of mograting from oe W2k3 AD to another due to company
acquisition. I've done this before in a solely XP environment using the
Active Directoy Migration Tool (v3)

WMP11 and MMC Explorer crashes
I wonder if anybody else has seen the following problem with WMP11 and
Vista. If I minimise to the task bar when a song is playing, then open
Media Center (by accident), close media center and hover on the minimised
player. The system shows the current song information then states that

Movie Maker crashing when publishing a movie!
Hi,
I just spend half a day editing a video and saved the result in a
mswmm project. The problem is that i cannot seem to be able to
publish the movie. Movie Maker stops working and reboots. It should
have something to do with incompatible codecs, but even when i
deselect ALL of them in Movie Maker / Tools / Options, even then, the
application crashed when publishing.

Media Player 11 corruption?
Player won't play most content (avi, mpeg, asf are some) - it plays some
wmv's and not others. Error message 'encountered a problem . . .' click web
help which suggests sound card/driver problem (sound is all that works)
Files all play fine with Realplayer. Try to download new player 11 to
reinstall, says I cannot do that since I am running a newer version. It
seems the player or code...

desk top ticker
I have just upgraded to windows Vista and I am unable to display my ticker
that I had on my XP desktop and when I go to change my Vista desktop there
is no area that allows me to 'customise' my desk top as there is with XP.
Is it possible to have Vista and a HTML ticker?...

Windows Media Player doesn't have sound when i play a DVD
I'll get sound when i play mpegs,wmv,asf's,etc,but when i put a DVD in and
play it in Media Player,i get Video but no Audio. any ideas? it came
pre-installed with Power DVD and i have been using that but i like Media
Player better because i have control with menus better. Any ideas on how to

Easy Transfer crashing
Hello all... I am trying to transfer files from an xp desktop to a vista
laptop via a Belkin cable and have not managed to get through the process

Windows Explorer.
Hi again,
Does anyone know how to view Windows Explorer under Vista ultimate so that
it displays like it did under XP, 2000, ME, 98, etc?
I don't want it to open to "Documents", as I already know what documents I
have on my PC.

When I first installed Vista, I set my ease of access to show the on-screen
keyboard. Then I noticed the logon screen changed to show a on-screen
keyboard seperate from the ease of access keyboard. I attempted to disable it

When I first installed Vista my modem worked great. After i did the updates
it stopped working. When I try to log on with Juno it says cant start

still have problems installing/using IIS
I still am not able to install IIS under Ultimate. Under Programs and
Features I go to turn on IIS, and it appears to be going properly when I hit
the okay button. The progress bar moves very slowly to the right, and
pauses for a very long time (maybe 90 seconds?) at the extreme right before
