hide menubar in explorer?
Just bought a new acer e380 and for some reason I can't hide the menubar in
open windows like my other pcs. I've trive Organize>Layout>Unchecked menubar
but it does nothing. In ie7 it works as it should, I can push Alt and it
appears. Any ideas? Home Premium btw......

'permissions' relating to import/export of .pst files in Outlook 2

URGENT HELP NEEDED for sounds in MS DOS in windows vista
I work in DOS (which is command prompt in Vista) before getting Vista
if I typed something incorrectly in a field in DOS the system would 'beep'.
Now I get nothing. This is a crucial issue for me.
Can ANYONE PLEASE tell me how to make the sound work for this?
I need an audible beep to sound when I make an error.

resize recovery partition in Windows Vista(Home Basic) ?
I got a dell laptop in which there was Dell recovery partition of about 10
gigs, of which only around 6 were filled. As i was already having 4 primary
partitions and I could not create new partition for installing XP, i used

Transfer of X-P data to new Computer with Vista
Dear Sir/Madam:
I am purchasing a new computer with VISTA operating systems. What do I
need to do to transfer data from my X-P operating systems? Also can I
transfer my applications such as Quicken Deluxe 2007; Family Tree Maker 2005;

6 of 11 updates just won't install
I received notification that there were 11 new updates so I installed them.
The machine was rebooted but instead of bringing up the login prompt it said
it was configuring the updates and then rebooted itself. When the machine
then booted for the second time I logged in only to find that 6 of the

desktop files moved to another folder under \favorites\desktop.
Problem:
vista ultimate X64
I was trying to switch users on my PC.
during switching it locked.
Mouse was moving but screen was blue/blank.
after about 10 minutes of inactivity I forced shutdown.
when loged back on.
all my filed and shortcuts disapeared.

Spooler not working
Hello
Often my system displays a message, that the the spooler stopped working.
Nowadays the spooler doesn't even start anymore.
Since installation, I wasn't able to print anything at all.
From a friend of mine I heard, this problem is quite common.
He himself wasn't able to print anything.
Is there a solution to the problem or do I have to wait another 6 Months?

Frequent Screen Freeze
I upgraded from Windows XP to Windows Vista and have frequent Screen Freezes.
This is very disturbing and I am wondering whether I should have upgraded.
The only option to shut down my computer is to actually cold boot it down -
there are no other options. Can anyone out there help me?...

vista hangs after login - seems specific to user
I did a clean install of Vista Business, it was working fine for a
while, then it started hanging about 30 seconds after I logged into
the administrator account every single time. So I booted in safe mode
and logged into administrator (it worked) and ran MSCONFIG and
disabled just about everything I could think of, then rebooted

Vista boots but no keyboard or mouse
After using Symantec Backup/Restore to copy my existing disk to a new larger
disk and then trying to boot the new disk, Vista starts but does not have
any keyboard or mouse input.
I have tried safe mode and the results are the same.
Any idea what I can do to get the keyboard and mouse back ?

Hibernation/sleep issue with ACER 8204 (Intel 945PM)
When entering hibernation mode the power light turns off, but the fan keeps
going, and the HDD led blinks from time to time. Exiting hibernation seems ok
though, looking very much the same as I remember from XP.
When it comes to the issue of Sleep mode on my laptop, It all seems ok, with

I am having problems connecting to my SMTP server, i.e. sending mail out.
It was working fine yesterday, and I have a laptop that is connected to the
same network which is working fine, it can send receive mail using Outlook
Express. So it seems the network seems to be ok. The only thing that has

Windows Vista, Win2k3 Shared Drive with Shadow Copies
I have a network drive mapped to my computer. The actual drive is on a Win2k3
server with shadow copies enabled for the volume it sits on. On an XP machine
Previous Versions/Shadow Copy works fine, I can view all the previous
versions that the server is making for me. In Vista I can't see any previous
versions of the network drive. Is there something special I have to do to get
this work...

Screen Saver not starting
I'm using an HP Pavilion laptop with Vista32. I've set my screen saver

Task Scheduler: Repeat Task and Duration
I would like to repeat a task every 1 minute for a duration of 8 hours.
1 minute and 8 hours are not options in the list box. When I overwrite the
repeat value to 1 minute and the duration to 8 hours the task starts all the
time and does not stop.
Any work arounds? I was able to change the repeat and duration under XP.

Mouse Right Click Button Dead after Installing Latest Microsoft update for 64 bit
After the installing the latest round of Microsoft updates, my 64 bit
browser is missing a lot of function. There is no Favorites button (star),

Where for art thou Backgammon?
The only MS game I have ever enjoyed playing is Backgammon in XP. After
upgrading to Vista, I discover Backgammon is no longer included. Does MS
have plans to re-include Backgammon? Or there a way to get the XP version to
run in Vista? I realise I could play on Zone.com, but I want something

After performing what I thought would be a routine Windows update last
