Major problem - vista won't boot, even in safe mode
Having a problem here. I am away from home for a few weeks, so I don't have
my Vista cd's with me.
I noticed Vista installed a bunch of updates throughout the day today (maybe
10). I got a notification saying not all updates were installed. I
attempted to install the 2 that hadn't installed. There was an error
installing, so I decided to reboot.

My question is this: I would like to have two displays (monitors) set

Computer Starting to Slowdown!!!?
My computer is approximately 2 months old and now has just recently
started to slow down after 3-4 hrs of use after each bootup. I have
scanned for viruses, malware/spyware, uninstalled unecessary programs,
defragmentized the hard drive, run diskcheck and cleared cookies and
temporary files from Internet Explorer. After a few hrs the system

Windows Vista - What a piece of crap
I spent $2M on a brand new computer with Vista on it and nothing works. I
sent 72 problem reports and e-mails to Microsoft and never got a response. If
you are even thinking of getting Vista-DON'T, you will be wasting your money.
Now I have to spend even more money to get Windows XP which works perfectly
on my old 30 year old computer and a video card so I can download videos to

I can't open CDs - please help.
I know this sounds really dumb but i can't open any cd roms or anything on
laptop with vista. Most of them do not start automatically when i put them
in the drive, but then i cannot find how to open them manually on vista - i'm
used to xp where i just click on my computer and the cd drive is there to
click on, but don't know where this is on vista or what icon looks like or

Where is the Up a level button in Explorer?

Windows Explorer (file manager) no longer seems to
have the Up Arrow button (to go up a level in your
directory tree).
Why on Earth would MS have removed such a useful
button from the bar?

Norton on Vista
d have just started to use Vista and each time I switch on a box comes up
telling I should use Norton. I don't want Norton and its reminders and would
like to remove it from my system but cannot see how to do it.

Stolen Software and Licenses
I recently had a bag containing every CD and license of all software I use on
my computers including XP, VISTA, 3 versions of Office and Visio along with
various non-microsoft software. Is there anyway of finding out my activation
keys (the 25 digit code) so that should I need to re-build a machine I can do
so without having to buy all the software again?

Recovery Disks with Vista
We recently bought an HP notebook with Vista. We supposedly can make
recovery disks. I started making the disks with CD's. It burned the first
one, then all the subsequent CD's had verification errors.
Then I read that we really should use DVD+R for recovery disks. One
question is, how do I get it to agree to start over using DVD? And is DVD+R
the way to go for this?

Poor performance with IE on Vista
Why is IE so darn slow when it comes to connecting to web sites, and
downloading. Currently we have a AMD 64-bit processor running at about 2
gig, and 1 gig of memory so that shouldn't be the problem.
What can I do to improve the IE performance? And switching to Mozilla isn't
the best way to go right now.... in case anyone is going to suggest
that..... :)

I was working on a document when suddenly all applications shut
down, the screen went blue, and a banner said INSTALLING
UPDATES. That remained for five minutes or more. Then, the unit
rebooted and that took more than five minutes.
When I loaded Word, it took several minutes instead of the usual
3-4 seconds. Now, everything's fine, the work-in-process was

Cannot Turn Windows Features On or Off
I am using Windows Vista Business Edition. I am trying to install Games and
other features, but when I select any of the options in "Turn Windows
Features On or Off", nothing happens. The window with "Please wait while the
features are configured" appears for a few seconds but there is no activity.
When I check, the features have not been installed. Any advice on how to fix
this problem...

Microsoft Word Viewer 2003 For Vista
I have a friend that has a new Hewlett-Packard with Windows Vista. She can’t
afford Office yet so is unable to open word documents. Carey Frisch and Ken

Its a pile of CRAP!
Sure there have been some other flops in the past, like microsoft Bob..
But ONLY Vista has the potential to screw up so many computers since its

Unable to upload photos to Tesco
Every time I try and upload photos to Tescophotos I.E bombs out with message
Internet Explorer has Stopped working, Internet Explorer is restarting, this
