Folder Bags...
Hi..
just like many other people, I'm having issues with Vista's ability to save
folder views and templates as they're constantly changing on their own accord.
This was a little frustrating with XP but at least we had the chance of
increasing the saved bags cache to 8000 but I can seem to find a registry
hack that will do the same for Vista.
At present, I either find myself deleting...

"Phantom Drive Letter" in Windows Explorer
I have two removable drives (a 250 G hard disc & a CF Card Reader).
Usually I click the "safely remove" icon before I remove them, but sometimes
it doesn't work and/or I forget.
Now, I have three "phantom drive letters" in my windows explorer window, and
if I plug in my Card Reader it is designated by three drive letters
displaying in the Explorer Window.

Start Menu Items occasionally dissapearing
I have read through the previous solutions to this problem and does not stop
it from happening. I have all games, programs sorted into diffrent folders so
it is easy to find. Since about 3 weeks ago, these items reset themselves and
dissapear totally. I have twice collected shortcuts from my programs and
organised them again in the start menu and now they have all dissapeared
again. Ever...

Stumped
To All Cognoscenti, Greetings!
I've started using a 500 GB external HD for backups under Vista Ultimate.
All the visible folders on it contain a total of about 300 GB. "Computer"
shows about 59 GB free space. Where has the rest disappeared to? I have
"Show hidden files" ticked. I've done a "Disk cleanup." What gives?

some files are not showing
some of my files aren't showing up in a folder.....they are picture files, i
copied from 1 folder to another and they ARE there. i edited them in paint
shop pro and saved as a new file name. the original .pcx and .tga file are
still in the folder, but the new ones are not. i can see them in paint shop
pro( i can see all the .pcx and .tga files) and open and work with them. in
paint sho...

Can't delete
I downloaded a game, Word Struck, and couldn't get it to work. It just would
not open in Vista.
All attempts at uninstalling fail and shift+delete has no effect. Any
suggestions as to how I can rid myself of this pest?...

Copy Tooo Long
Hi
I want to copy or move file from a CD to my hard drive , it took 59 Minutes
for 432MB , how can I do it faster. I use Vista Ultimate !

CAN'T RENAME A FOLDER
I'm running vista home premium and i am having trouble when trying to rename
a folder, i right click on the folder and the rename option does not appear
in the menu, i try with the file options in the explorer but when i click the
rename options nothing happens, i'm also having problems with another folder

Application Cannot Save Files in Vista
I have an application that needs to save some of its data in a file. The
application is installed into the c:\Program Files\Commission Calculator
folder. The application wants to store its data in that same folder.
With all previous versions of Windows this worked fine, but with Vista it
causes a "Can't Save" error (80030103). The file extension is .adtg, but I

Hi,
I'm trying to figure out how vista manages the thumbnail previews in
explorer. Specifically video previews. And more specifically how to
extend or overwrite this functionality. For instance, let's say I
develop a new type of video (format or container) how can I develop a

Sharing folders and files
Hi All -
On a home network I need to be able to "see" all folders and files from all
compters at all compters.
How do I make the entire drive "sharable" so I can access every folder and
files from any computer on the network, and not only the "public" folders.

automatic sharing
I can index the contents of a Steganos safe mounted as drive:X but only if it
is also shared (so as to give it a network path e.g. \\mypc\thissafe that
UNCFATPH - the indexer add in - can use). Mounting the safe is a manual
operation because it requires a password.
Is there any way to automatically share this device?
At the moment I have TWO batch files... 1st says "RUNAS" administrat...

I can find my files.
I am a college student and I just got a new laptop. The laptop has Vista on
it. everytime I try to upload or attach a file I click on the browse button
but none of m files are anywhere to be found. I was wondering if anyone else
had the same problem. I am sure it is something I am doing wong but any help
is great....

"Favorite Links" in Navigation Pane is (almost) always empty.
This is very wierd. Just a couple of days ago I installed Vista Ultimate
onto my machine - clean install into an empty partition. No upgrade or file
& settings transfer...everything is generic.
I know a lot of people don't like the "Favorite Links" window in the
Explorer navigation pane, but for me it would be very useful - if it

Offline files
Hi
I'm running Vista Business in a server 2003 domain with roaming profile. I
can log in and see all my files on my desktop and synchronise successfully.
When I work off line I can still see the files on my desktop but they are
transparent and not accessible. When I double click on of the files I get
the message "This file is currentley not available for use on this computer".

When I try to open a .doc or a .wps file attached to an email, I get an error
info. When I save the file and try to open it, all is fine. The same used to
be the case with pdf, but that has miraculously repaired itself after an
Adobe-update. I have Vista Home Premium and the email program I use is a

Fix for Folder View settings problem
Windows Explorer folder view settings will not remember your settings.
EX: Detail instead of Large icons, etc.......

Can't move files....need permission
I have a shared folder called MOVIES and I have tried to move other video
files to this folder but a popup
advises I do not have permission to move files into the MOVIES directory.
I looked up setting permission in the properties of that folder but most of
the choices are greyed out.
Any help or suggestions appreciated.

Heading columns and tool bar settings
Hi, I know how to filter files and everything.. I just want to know how to
save it.
An example: Everytime I open a window it shows in "large icons".. I don't
like it... I'd like to open automatically in "details" mode. The same happens
to the headings... when I open the picture's folder, the headings by default
are: Name / Date Taken / Tags / Size / Rating... I don't want any of this ...

Index inside ZIP??
Any way to get the Indexer to index the contents of files in ZIP
files/archives if it has an appropriate filter for the contained file type?
Absence of this facility is v. annoying.
I have a LOT (Word & Excel) in ZIPs and I need them to be indexed...

Very annoying... indexing only looks for filenames inside ZIP
files/achives... any way to persuade it to attend to the file types inside
and if it has a filter (e.g. Office Filter) to index the content?
I have a LOT (word & excel) in zip files, and I need the contents index.

Error code
When trying to copy files to a SD card, I have copied lots, as it is a 2GB
card, and then it generates this error...
Error 0x80070052 Files can not be found or do not exist.
This is NOT the case as they do exist on my Hard drive, but Vista will not
let me copy them over.
ANY help please.
