Profile loading problem
A client has a 2003R2 SP1 domain controller, and a 2003 SP1 terminal server. Occasionally, when the users log on, they do not load their profile. Instead, they get a new, empty profile. If the Terminal Servfer is rebooted, it works again - for a while. Event logs on the terminal server sometimes show: 5719 Netlogon - This computer was not able to set up a secure session with a domain ...

We are running Windows 2003 TS server with 2 CPUs and 3 gig RAM in a thin client environment. We noticed that hyper threading was turned off. When turn it on, task manager shows 4 CPUs. How to configure new RDP client to stop annoying prompts
Recently upgraded my RDP client to the latest and I really do not like all the new prompts it is forcing. I liked the old way where I could just enter the computer name and only be prompted for the Username and Password at the Terminal Server login screen. Windows 2000 servers will not accept the password being passed by the RDP client so it just creates another couple of key strokes f...

GDI Object leak when connected using mstsc?
I hope I'm in the right area to post this. if not, I apologize and please help me to get it right... Anyway, I have a process that basically loads a TIF page into a DIB, manipulates the DIB, and writes it back to a TIF file. I've discovered that if I run this program on the physical pc, the GDI objects remain constant (usually a value of 5). If someone connects to this pc using "msts...

Initial program and desktop
I have a user using the MSRDP ActiveX client and is attempting to start a single application on Windows 2003 (for example, notepad.exe). It has worked fine for all other users accessing different machines. For this user, it does indeed start notepad.exe, but he also sees the desktop (i.e. all of the icons on the desktop, plus the Start task bar, etc.). The RDP-TCP Environment tab is set to "...

ServicePack2 disables color depth >8bit in high resolutions :(
Did anyone else notice that the service pack2 for windows 2003 disables the usability of color depths greater than 8bit (256 colors) when using resolutions greater than 1600x1200? I didn't find any specific notes on this topic in the release notes of service pack2, but Microsoft obviously changed something (buffer size?) in the terminal service - and that's what happened. Is there a ...

Which CALS to Buy for Windows 2003 Terminal Services?
I have Windows 2003 servers that need to establish client connections to Windows 2003 servers running Terminal Server in application server mode. The licensing server will run on the domain controller. My question is which CALs do I need to buy to license those clients? With Windows 2000 there were two different kinds of CALs, one for file servers and one for terminal services. Is t...

Terminal Server Licensing in multi-domain environment
We recently upgraded from NT 4 domains to Win2k3 AD. In the process, we added a parent domain. Since the upgrade went in stages, and in order to keep our Win2k terminal servers running, we designated a domain controller in each office as a terminal server licensing server. I have been deploying Win2k3 Terminal Servers and would like to modify our terminal server licensing environment....

Roaming profiles appearing with the hidden and system attribute
The TS roaming profiles that are stored on our file server are appearing in the root directory with the hidden and system attributes on them. To my knowledge, there are no GPOs or 3rd party applications/scripts that are modifying the folders. I thought by default profiles should be visible to an administrator browsing the root folder, but the administrator cannot access the folders (un...

HP OfficeJet 5510 / Term Server 2003
Good afternoon! I am curious as to what people are doing to make an HP OfficeJet 5510 available to a user logging in from a remote location via RDP to a Windows Server 2003 Terminal Server. I have added the ntprintsubs.inf file to the Terminal Server (with registry entries) but the OJ5510 is naturally not part of that file. All suggestions are appreciated. We would like to try to s...
