Two versions of office on one TS
Anyone ever tried to get two versions of Office (say Office 2K and Office
2003) installed on the same Windows 2003 TS?
I note that KB828956 says that MS does not support it but I was wondering
whether that means it won't work.
Thanks.

Memory per user per session
Dear All,
I would like to propose my customer to purchase a Terminal Server instead of
Citrix, they were asking for the following question which I am not familiar
with Terminal Server.
1. What is the maximum memory per user per session?
2. What is the maximum memory per user per session for printing?
3. Which program works well with Hris - Citrix or terminal services? Need
your propo...

Question on the security of RDP's client drive mapping
Hi all,
I'm hoping one of you knowlegeable folks here can set my mind at rest.
We have a number of Windows 2003 member servers (and domain
controllers) in our DMZ locked down using the Microsoft High Security
baseline profile. We also run Host Intrustion Prevention software on
all the servers.
We use RDP through the internal firewall to manage these servers. From
time to time I enable...

Licencing on replacement Hardware question
Pulling my hair out on this one, any help appreciated.
Replaced a SBS box with new hardware, recreated the domain environment
successfully. Everything works great except WTS that is running on a W2K
server on the same domain. WTS licencing server was installed on the old SBS
box so I am trying to install it on the new hardware and hopefully get remote
access back up. However....when I g...

Voice recognition on TS
One of my clients has a user who isn't exactly the brightest bulb in the box
so he uses IBM's Via Voice as his input method rather than a keyboard.
However my client also uses terminal server so what i'm wondering is:
Is it possible to run IBM's Via Voice on a TS session from the client
machine or if not is there another voice input solution for a terminal server
environment?
Cheers p...

duled-batch-tasks
Hi all,
I?ll use an example to describe my problem:
When I create a scheduled-task on my WinXP-PC, lets say a batch-file
(start: 11:30o?clock), a DOS-Window opens at 11:30 o?clock executing and
displaying the output of the batch-file.
When doing the same on our Win2000-TerminalServer, the batch file gets
started (as I can see by looking at the taskmanager) but there is no

Adding win2003 terminal server to 2000 domain
Hi All,
I'm looking to add a win2003 terminal server (it will eventually run Citrix)
to a windows 2000-based domain. As I understand it a 2003 TS requires a 2003
terminal server license server. There are a number of things I am unclear
about:-
1. Are there any problems adding a 2003 terminal license server to a
2000-based domain?
2. There is also an existing 2000 terminal license se...

Unable to connect to TS periodically.
I have spent time reading posts on this discussion group and got some tips,
but would appreciate some additional ideas on how to troubleshoot my
particular situation.
The basic issue is simply that my Windows 2003 SP1 Std Edition server stops
accepting RDP connections. The machine is up, ping-able, still serving web
pages, etc. When I log into the machine the Terminal Service process ...

Full Security - mapping shared printer...
This is basically a repost from the AD group. But I have narrowed it down
to a terminal server thing.
I have Full Security enabled on a Windows 2003 R2 Terminal Server. When I
login as a non-administrator I cannot map a particular printer that is
shared from a Windows 2003 Storage Server. I have used regmon and filemon
and exterminated the "ACCESS DENIED" messages but I still get:

office 2003 on term svr 2003 R2 sp2
MS articles state that office 2003 install on term server will automatically
adjust itself for optimised performance.
Yet many web articles talk about word’s background spell checking as another

I can disable this by usage of the office group policy.
Have anyone else resort to disabling the background spell check...

appear.
Sometimes they will type and then word or outlook will pause for a few

Redirect ONLY default printer in TS 2000?
Hello!
I have Googled enough to know that a 2003 TS can redirect only the client's
default printer, but I cannot find a way to do it with a 2000 TS. I want to
redirect only the default printer, which in some cases is a network printer.
Some folks recommend a Universal Printer Driver as a solution. If that is
the only way to go, would someone please recommend a good Universal Printer

Memory Management Tools
We are looking for a straight forward way to maximize memory utilization on a
set of MS W2003 Terminal Servers.
In general we are in good shape except for a particular memory hungry
application (medical system A4, PM and EMR).
THought W2003 was supposed to be better at managing redundant memory
utilization, etc - but looks like third party tools are really required.
While certainly there i...

thin client com ports
I am having a problem finding a way to map com ports from thin clients to a

I have no problem using RDP from an XP Pro box or even an XPe thin client.
I am assuming this is because I can enble the serial ports being brought to
the local device the RDP session is launched from.
However the majority of my thin clients are WYSE 1125 and 3125SE's which are...
