RPC over HTTP
Hi All,
Just some questions about RPC over HTTP (first two relate to an
external client machine NOT joined to domain):
1. Can we use NTLM rather than Basic Authentication and how do i
configure it - i tried to get the IIS sub directory RPC to use NTLM
authentication and the outlook client but when it tries to use NTLM,
it does not allow me to log on - even though passwords are right, it

142 Unknown user name or bad password attempts
In our Security Log there were 142 occurrences of Unknown user name or bad
password. Were we under an attack of some sort, and did I set something up
wrong so that someone could do that? Is there something I should be fixing?
I am new to a domain network and just set up the server with SBS. We are
connected to the internet with a Linksys router and using its firewall. I
have set up ...

Sending email/attachment from a TS through Exchange on SBS?
I have a Win2003 Server (SP2/R2) in the SBS (SP2/R2) domain. A new
application on the TS needs to send an email with file attachments to a
funding partner every month. I believe the email is invoked from within
FoxPro code.
Is it necessary to actually install Outlook2003 on the TS to facilitate this
email or can Exchange handle an email placed on the server internal IP?
Or how is th...

Upgrading hardware and software sbs 2003 to sbs 2003 premium r2
I have a new box bigger and faster, setup the new sbs 2003 premium r2. I plan
to manually add the users and setup the shares. my big question for me is
what to do about moving the exchange database? there are so many different
ways i'm confused.
What would be the most simple way. One where I would not lose any data
I have backups and offline copies of my edb and stm files.

sbs2003 and dynamic/mirrored issue
The primary drives(dynamic and OS mirrored), containing C: E: F: , disk
management says that E: and F: are at Risk.
My option is to reactivate the disk(s). I suspect it is related to the hard
shut down when we ran out of space and it took most of the day to resynch.
Is there a pitfall to doing that?
The drives are budgeted for replacement but not right now.

vpn errors after Windows Server 2003 SP2
I have a similar post but with a different error so I decided to start a new
one. I apologize if it seems redundant. I work for two companies that have
picked someone as the "in-house" computer person. They only call me when
they get stuck. Now I'm stuck. So on two SBS servers out of seven I have
Windows Server 2003 SP2 installed. The VPNs stopped working with error 800. I

Use ISA 2006 on home network?
On my SBS 2003 R2 domain at home (two users), how much trouble is it to
install ISA 2006 (on a separate box , of course)? I'm rebuilding my SBS box
on 64 bit hardware and want to prepare for cougar. Both boxes have plenty of
go power.
How much trouble is it to configure ISA 2006 on the separate box (without
the wizards)? How would I cable this mess? Is there a great whitepaper?

Creating a partition in unpartioned space
When setting up SBS on a spare computer that formerly ran Win XP Pro, I
elected to repartition the existing hard drive. I allocated 30GB to the C:
partition for system files. Setup didn't prompt me to create a D: partition,
so I never did. Now, I'm fully installed, but have no access to the balance

However, I can't mount the store in the exchange manager. I also can start
