Remote Administration
I am trying to administer my SBS 2003 server from my home computer. I have
set up the Terminal Services configuration to allow this. I am able to
connect using Remote Desktop Connection on a client computer within the local
network with no problem. However, when connecting from home, I get the
following error message:

How do I remove a phantom network interface?
I have a SBS 2003 Standard with 2 NICs. The Network Connections shows only 2
Icons/NICs labeled as the standard "Network Connection" and "Server Local
Area Connection". No other interfaces are listed there.
However, a Route Print command shows 4 Interfaces; the 2 NICs described
above, a MS TCP Loopback and then a "WAN (PPP/SLIP)" phantom interface. How

Not getting fax sent/not sent message boxes on clients
I have one XP Pro client and one Vista Business client attached to my SBS 2K3
server. I recently switched from using the individual clients' built in PCI
modems for faxing to using a single modem attached to the server and the
server's shared faxing service. It has been working great, except that the
clients are not getting the message box pop ups indicating the fax was/was

1 nic or 2
Hi all
I wish to have sbs server in office 1 behind a draytek router, and in office
a draytek router with permanent VPN to office 1 for the 2 pc's in office 2
to connect back to the sbs server. My question is 1 or two network cards in
the sbs server, i do not want to put sbs server on dmz

Best way to remove client?
Hi All,
What would be the best way to remove a client computer COMPLETELY from
a domain?
And in terms of joining a new computer, would the most complete and
best way would be to go:

Additionally, is there any way to change the hyperlinked addresses of
the SBS default page when you type into your browser https://server_name

DHCP stops working suspect internal issue
I have an issue that I need a little help with. I just replaced an old SBS
server with a New SBS server (new box, FW the works), the old server would
not give out DHCP address and would not update. The new server has been
running great, until last week, when it showed some of the same signs as the
old server, DHCP stopped giving addresses, rebooting, and cpu time elevated.

I've got Sharepoint V3 installed on a production R2 SBS server and it seems
to work. I have not disabled anything in V2.

Blocking internet access on a computer with ISA 2004
Okay, we have SBS 2003 premium with ISA 2004. I'm trying to (with little
success) block internet access ONLY to our lobby computer, for security
reasons. The user will still need Outlook and network resources. I've
created many times different rules in ISA 2004 firewall policy and they fail
to do anything.
Can someone give me an exact setup to use here?...

Disappearing disk space?

drive. Normally the system partition has about 2.5G free space. BUT...

ISA Blocking Site
I have an intranet site on a member computer (running XP Pro SP2). I can
access the site from the computer running the site by using the ip address,
but I am unable to access this intranet site from any other computer,
including the SBS server. The error code I'm getting from ISA when it
blocks this IP address is nice and generic so I doubt it's much help . . .

Website Port Assignment
I have an intranet that also needs to send SMTP email from a form on the
site. I tried running the site on port 5556 because of interference with
other websites. But now, it doesn't want to send email. I assume this is
because I'm not running on port 80. Is this correct? Is there a way I can
run this site on something other than port 80 and still send SMTP email from
a form?

Is it possible to have only certain links visible in Companyweb ..
Is it possible to have only certain links visible in Companyweb based on the
user account? I don't want the users to have to log into the Companyweb site
though when they are in the office.
I want certain links showing for everyone but others to only show for
managers.

my external address is set in alerts and reports etc., but msg tracking shows

Certificate issuer suggestions
Hello - I am deploying MS Mobile/Exchange. I was having problems installing
the self signed certficate...so I plan to buy a 3rd party Cert.
I found Geotrust and Thawte to be reasonably priced in the past. I have
also found that www.Dotster.com resells Thawte certificates at a good
discount.

Server crashed and NTFS problems
My SBS box died on Monday morning, long story. I reloaded the OS and suddenly
I can't access the data shares. NTFS is telling me access denied. Any ideas?
Don't start about backups, they didn't solve the issue since the system
wouldn't boot. Backup wouldn't run in safe mode and The back ups are locked
in a folder on a dedicated hard drive on the server.....
Anyone have any ideas how to...

Adding SQL to SBS
Hi there
I have a 3 year old install of SBS2K3, purchased as Premium but the
SQL and ISA never got installed as it turned out they weren't needed.
Anyway now all of a sudden we have a use for SQL server - after SP1
and 2 and the various Exchange updates. ie7 and millions of hotfixes
etc. Does anyone know how safe it is to install the original SQL2K
what needs doing first or what the gotch...

VPN Hanging Problem
Hi,
I have an issue when trying to connect via vpn to my sbs2003 box. This has
just started happening. Note, all ports are forwarded correctly.
When connecting it hangs after username/password. I have to try about 10
times before it will connect. There are no event log entries and no errors
in the ras log file.
It was working fine a few weeks ago, and has only just started happening...

Addresses missing, Global Address Book not updating on Outlook Cli
