Spiceworks Software
I read about this (free) network management software in a recent PC Magazine.
Anyone have any experience with this...is it handy for a small network? Any
risks in using it to monitor a small SBS network? Any tips on how to use?...

.NET Framework 2.0 update
Hi all,
When updating one of my client's servers, I accidentally clicked 'Install
Now' instead of 'Custom Install'. This installed .NET Framework 2.0 and my
RWW session ended abruptly. When trying to reconnect I get the 'Server
Application Unavailable'. I read a previous thread and Costas suggested
checking which version of ASP.Net is selected under IIS/Default WebSite and

Blackberry devices and Exchange
How do you get a Blackberry device to sync with an Exchange server account
without using their Enterprise Manager?
We only have 5 users, all have a POP account that Exchange downloads every
15 minutes to their Exchange Mailboxes. I'm pretty sure we set up the
Blackberry device with a blackberry e-mail address in which it monitors this
external POP account. If Exchange is downloading these...

Migration from SBS 2003 Std to SBS 2003 Prem R2 Plus new hardware)
I gather this isn't as automated as I had hoped judging from the list of
similar issues and depth/detail of the replies I've seen.
I have older hardware running SBS 2003 Std. It is running Exchange 2000,
DNS, no DHCP, 1 NIC, IIS. It is my home setup (training, lab, websites).
I have new server sitting and waiting. It has 1 NIC, but I wouldn't mind
adding 2nd NIC if recommended. ...

This is driving me nuts ... !!
It seems we can send small text only emails and small attachments but larger
attachments are causing the error "connection dropped by remote host". I
have tried sending the emails through smart host and dns with the same issue.
Internal emails remain unaffected.
I have also setup on the server in outlook express the smtp and pop3 of our

EVT Err 7022 Server Service not starting
Hello,
Recently the clowns at Panda Software decided to slip a corrupted virus
sig file which caused their Server AV software to freak out. I was able
to circumvent this problem by removing the virus protection using the
add/remove programs applet but now I find myself with a new problem.
When the server boots up now the Server Service doesn't start which then
causes many subseque...

ISA 2004 Trial
Hi all,
we have a client using SBS 2003 Standard.
The client thinks about migrating to Premium Edition (to use ISA Server),
but they would like to evaluate it first.
Since there is no SBS 2003 evalution for my country (Lithuania) I was
thinking of delivering the customer ISA 2004 trial, but only the 2006
version is available for the trial.
What are my options?
Can I use "downgraded" v...

Question regarding firewalls
Hello!
In an SBS domain, what firewall ports are really needed for most businesses
to have full functionality? I would like to have the maximum lock-down I can
achieve with normal network and Internet functionality.
I can think of the following, in numerical order:
Inbound ports forwarded in firewall/router:
25 to SBS
443 to SBS
3389 to a 2000 or 2003 terminal server
4125 to SBS
