transfer FSMO to a new installed DC
Thanks for your help.
In our environment, we have 3 DC (windows 2000) and 1 exchange 2k3 server
(Win 2k3).
DC01 is the first installed DC, it hold all the FSMO role now.
When I open the Active Directory sites and servcies, there are two top
folder: sites and services and there are some subfolder under servies like:
Microsoft Exchange and Netservices and some others.

ADMT v3
The ADMT tool does not migrate the user over because it already thinks it is
in AD because of the ADC disabled account for the user exits. This is the
only user we are having an issue with out of many users that have been
migrated. We already ran the AD cleanup wizard and it did not find the users
account. Is there something that we can do to migrated the users NT account
to AD? ...

SFN 5.03 File Migration Utility Reports Forest Unavailable

Which Windows Server to use.
Hi All,
Need to have a several database to work on via MS SQL 2005 about 400GB, and
need to create a windows server that will provide some data to a web site.
The web site is a on a different server and will point to the current
computer with the data. What windows server will fit best for this
situation?

How to Migrate a Local Profile to Terminal Server
Hello,
I currently have all users logging into the domain, with the user
profile being stored on the computer locally. I am in the process of
configuring a terminal server and having all user logging into that.
The only problem is keeping all existing profile settings intact. Is
there a way to migrate local profile to a terminal server session?

Installing DNS with dcpromo answer file
Hi,
i'm trying to install DNS from a dc promo answer file on a 2003 sp2
machine. when iot gets to the dns part it asks me to insert the cd
labeled sp2 etc... i know i can do this and the install will work
fine, but is there a way i can get round this message appearing. is
it because i installed sp2 after the OS and not as part of a slip
streamed install? can't see why that would matter?

User Profiles and Setting from 2003 32bit to 2003 64bit?
So we have a new Terminal Server and its running Win2003 64bit with Office
2007
The Old server is WIn2003 32bit and had Office 2003
What is the best way to transition the user profiles from one server to the
other?
My Main concern is the Desktop, My Documents and the Favorites.

Moving shares/security to new drive (SAN)
I recently attached a 2003 file server to a SAN for added storage. I plan
to move shares that are present on a single RAID 5 logical disk across
multiple SAN disks. Is there any good way to move the shares without
recreating share permissions.
Robocopy can migrate the NTFS permissions but I havent come across a way to

SBS 4.0 to Win2003r2
I need to migrate users from SBS 4.0 to Win2003r2. Cannot establish a trust
to use ADMT. Can I build an NT4 BDC on that domain and use that to establish
a trust? Even better, can I upgrade in place the BDC to Win2003r2?

64 Bit Registry Uninstall Information
I wrote an MSI package that used the path found at
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Microsoft .NET
Framework 2.0\InstallLocation to determine where the .NET bin directory was
installed. However, on 64 bit systems, that path no longer exists. Where is
the new location which gives the uninstall information on a 64 bit system, so

Msi Distribution Point migration from server to new server.

I have a SBS 2k3 Stnd w/SP1 AD domain from which I need to migrate to
an 2k3 R2 Stnd AD domain. I know the AD Schema of 2k3 R2 is different
than that of SBS 2k3. So my questions are:

DCPROMO and FSMO roles
Hello,
I have a W2000S running with the FSMO roles of PDC, RID, Infrastructure,
etcetera. All my other DC's are W2003S. I want to decommission this last
W2000S DC and only have W2003S DC's.
My question is this: Should I move the FSMO roles manually off the W2000S to
a W2003S DC or will the DCPROMO down to a domain member server of the W2000S
prompt me to move the roles to another DC...
