Forward Lookup Zones - Expired
Hi all,
I've just set up a new domain, with two 2003(R2) Domain Controllers,
both running DNS.
I'm trying to set up secondary DNS zones from another domain, in order
to create a two way trust, and also for a migration.
One domain controller works fine, but the other shows the Zone as
"Status: Expired".
Any Ideas why, and how can I fix this?
Thanks,
Andy

Windows 2k3 server can't add computer to domain
Hi
I just recently built up a new Windows 2003 server w/SP2 as a domain
controller running AD, DNS and DHCP, but I'm unable to add a computer
to it. When I do an nslookup I get this output:
DNS request timed out
timeout was 2 seconds
Can't find server name for address 6.6.6.6
Default Server: UnKnown
Address: 6.6.6.6
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

who hosts my mx records?
DNS is not my thing, so sorry for the newb question
our MX records are setup properly for our domain, but we will be changing
them soon, and I have no idea who hosts our MX records. I know they point
to frontbridge, but not sure who set this up for us.
Is there anyway to lookup who hosts them for us?

Backup (TWO) ISPs/ Backup (TWO) Routers/ Backup (Four) DNS Servers on 2 diffrent networks
Hello All-
We have a Windows 2000 domain that is connected to the internet. I
have the DNS servers of our ISP listed as forwarders. I'll refer to
this as ISP-1
We recently purchased new internet service as a backup in the event of
an emergency we can just have someone switch cables and get us back on
line. I'll refer to this as ISP-2
My problem is, when I switch us to the ISP-2 con...

SPF Record - Is it correct?
Hello,
I'm sending the SPF record to my provider's dns office, and I'd like
to have your opinion about the string I have written. At first I will
explain our dns and mailserver configuration:
1) We have 2 SMTP server that go out with the same public IP (one for
inbound/one for outbound).
2) This pubblic IP has an MX record, mail.mydomain.com.
3) There is a PTR record xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.in-ad...

Reverse Lookup setup
Hi,
We have 26 sites world wide and in each site there are 2 domain controllers
running Windows 2003 STD SP1. These DCs are also DNS servers for each site.
There are about 20,000 computer objects in Active Directory for the entire
firm. We are in process of creating reverse lookup zones for all of client
subnets. I understand Active Directory integrated DNS to be more secure but

169.254.x.x auto registrering as a (same as parent folder)!
Hi!
We have a strange issue, we have a workstation or a server that it is
registrering into the dns as a Host (A) record (same as parent folder), which
are supposed to be used to identify domain controller for that domain.
Since this an invalid ip address, every application doing ldap requests on
that domain are getting this address, and before falling back to another good
one, this ...

DNS conflicting answers
I have had many differing and sometimes conflicting answers on the
subject of setting up multiple DNS servers on multiple DCs and am
hoping this forum can supply me with a final answer.

I have a dns server which my client can ping its fqdn but cannot find its
domain name eg, fqdn myserver.domain.com can be pinged but domain.com cannot

Multiple MX records possible?
We are running an Exchange 2000 server inside our firewall. To this point,
it is running fine. I also have a UNIX box that I need to send out email
notices to customers. I tried pointing the UNIX box to the Exchange server
so that I could use it as a relay. We have one MX record that points to an
external mail address which then translates it to the internal address of the
exchange s...
